The indian Ocean transformed the culture of maritime trade and fostered (trade-based) relationships between the diverse populations that lay on the body of water. Mass market trading culture expanded due to ships being able to carry significant amounts of goods compared to land routes like the Silk Road.

Technological advancements also heavily impacted the culture of trade we see not only in the Indian Ocean but beyond. For example, inventions like the compass, astrolabe, and lateen sails transformed the way states traded.

Lastly, the indian ocean trade heavily impacted the spread of religious ideas. Islam spread (ex., Indonesia) because of the "monsoon marketplace". This is because merchants wanted to establish religious and economic relationships with the people they were trading with.

Another interesting thing was that this trade route was not ruled by anybody, and so it was easier for merchants to sell things compared to the Silk Roads. Because it's not ruled by anyone, it can add tons of different cultures and people, which opens up the door for many opportunities.

I think the Indian Ocean Trading Network had the greater impact on the world. One main reason is they were able to ship things with a greater mass which allowed more things to able to get traded. The monsoon winds also were significant because they allowed more goods to be trasnfered and t=for them to be transfered more efficiantly. People also carried things more in bulk which was much more efficiant leading to them gaining money quicker.
