This books is about a real life event that happened at the Central Park Zoo in New York City between two male chinstrap penguins who fell in love. Their names are Roy and Silo. The two penguins in the story notice how all the girl and boy penguins like each other and become couples, which they themselves do, and then see that those couples can do something they can't. The girl lays an egg and then the two take turns keeping it warm. The keeper of the penguins finds an egg for the two and they take care of it and learn how to take care of Tango (because it takes two to Tango, hence her name) as she grows. It has somewhat predictive text that helps kids be able to understand the slightly complex ideal conveyed in the text.

This is a wonderfully diverse book that shows kids what 5 kids around the world do during their day that is both similar and different from what an American child would typically know. The kids in the book are based off of real life kids that were made into characters for this book. It shows what the kids eat for breakfast, where they live, their family structure, what clothes they wear. This book is not very complex but some vocabulary and locations that kids might not know are underlined, perhaps so they can look them up or ask someone else. This book takes the common idea of a day of getting ready for and going to school and showing how universal it is but the differences in the details.

This story is based on supermodel Georgie Badiel's childhood and the journey she, her mother, and the other women in the village took to get water in Africa. She calls herself a princess and says that her kingdom is the African sky. She wishes for water and wants it to appear but it isn't going to and she wishes her village had water. The book is not too textually complex although it could be hard for kids to understand why Georgie's village doesn't have water but it's good for kids to see what other kids around the world have to do in their daily lives, especially to get something we generally take for granted. This would be a good read aloud for maybe later first through upper elementary.
