I think that Simon's decision to cut the rope was courageous. One reason he was courageous was because he stayed to help his friend. The article states that Simon waited for more than an hour to try to help Joe. A coward wouldn't wait for more than five minutes. Also, the chances that Joe would survive would be slim. According to the text, Simon started to slip because of Joe's body weight. Either way, Joe would most probably fall. In conclusion, Simon's decision was courageous.

I think Simon was cowardly for cutting the rope. Cowards wouldnt want to do somthing scary like cutting a rope and killing your friend. He lacked courage because if he was courages he wouldnt of been scared to die saving his friend. Another reason he was cowardly is because he could have saved him, but he didnt. He thought that if he cuts the rope, he WAS going to die. He belived he was going to die. but yet he still cut the rope and almost killed his friend. Simon was cowardly.

I think that Simon's decision to cut the rope was cowardly. First of all, we all know that Simon tried to save Joe. But by saving Joe doesn't mean you have to cut the rope. Simon made Joe fall down a 160 ft drop. Simon also made Joe suffer with his broken leg. This was why I thought Simon was a coward.

I think Simon was cowardly. He knew it when he looked down the cliff. Leaving your friend behind on a hill is a terrible thing especially when your friend has a broken leg.

I think that Simon's decision was cowardly. I think that because he let his friend almost die just because he could handle his weight. I think that is cowardly because if he was your friend you wouldn't let them just almost die. I also think Simon was cowardly because the text states he just let Joe sit there for 3 days and didn't even bother to help him. Those reasons prove why I think Simon was a coward. In my opinion Simon desision was courageous. One reason that I think that his desision was courageous is that It's hard to leave a friend behind. In the artical it said that they were best friends. So you can imagine the bravery that took to do that. Another reason that simon was courageous is he new that if he had not cut the rope that they would both fall and possibly die. What would you choose life or death? therefore I think simon was courageous.

I think that Simon's decision was cowardly. I think that because in the article it said Simon had a decision to leave Joe or to stay and risk his own life. Simon chose to leave and cut the rope and Joe fell 160 feet down and that cowardly of Simon to do. He could've stayed with his friend and helped him out , Joe was already in pain from his leg and now that he fell his leg was probably worst.

I think that Simon's decision was cowardly. I think that his decision was cowardly because if he cut the rope and his friend wasn't responding, wouldn't he know something is wrong?

Like put yourself in his shoes. You're yelling for your friend and he/she is not responding. You know that any drop from the mountain and be deadly. But yet you still cut the rope. That to me is messed up. In the text it states "All he heard was wind, All he saw was blackness." If you can't see anything below you, then you'd know that it's a big drop!

The second reason I think that his decision was cowardly because in this story it says " Joe lost his grip and slid 15 feet onto a rocky ledge. On impact his shinbone was driven through his kneecap." If you already know that he is injured and he might not be able to make it, why would you ditch him like that? If you were in Joe's shoes you would've felt pain, weakness, and even more pain! SO if some dropped you, then obviously it wouldn't help.

I think that Simon was a coward. One reason is because the text stated that Simon made the decision to stay with his friend. If he was courageous he would have stuck with his decision and stayed with his friend the whole time. If he was really courageous he would have made the choice to live together or die together, not try to make then cut the rope and leave your friend. Another reason I think Simon is a coward is because he felt guilty. He felt guilty because he knew he was cowardly to cut the rope. All in all, Simon was a coward to cut the rope and leave is friend behind.

I think he's cowardly. Yeah, he would be in pain, yeah it would be slower,  but, he still could've  saved him. But, he took it upon himself to not suffer with his BEST FRIEND and supposedly Kill him. He knew what he was doing yet he did anyway. In the text it states, "Simon made his decision, He reached into his pack, and pulle dout a knife. With trembling fingers he cut the rope." instead of suffering with his friend e sacrificed him. Would your rather die with your BEST FRIEND or survive knowing that you'll never be the same. He left his friend to die. That is an act of a coward.

I'm still neutral. So I will give one reason why Simon was courageous and one for why he was cowardly. Simon was courageous because he has stayed with Joe for most of the way. For example, the text states that instead of leaving Joe, he stayed and lowed him to the ground for as much as he could. I think Simon was cowardly because he ditched Joe and could have helped Joe a bit more. for example the text says that Simon had cut the rope which could have killed Joe. In the end I'm still neutral.

In my opinion, Simon was cowardly because I KNOW this sounds very weird, but it is more courageous to die with Joe than to let him die by himself. According to the text, Joe stated he crawled because he wanted to die with someone, not alone.

I think that Simon was courageous because he tried to save his friend but then his friend was injured and he couldn't pull his friend up because he had to pull Joe up 20 meters up and Simon was to tired.

I think that Simon was courageous when he cut the rope. I think this because Simon was tired. It was either Joe died, or both of them died. If it was either Simon died, or both of them died, Simon probably would have chosen that he died instead of both of them. Plus, after he cut the rope, he stayed on the cliff. Staying on the cliff after an extremely traumatic experience is very brave. Most people would have left the cliff, but he stayed because he didn't want to leave Joe in case he was alive.
