Under this, a student is required to go through 6-8 weeks of long social internship with a social sector organization. 

Through these internships, students come face to face with social development challenges that India is facing.

    This was the very first week of the internship where I got introduced to all the NGO Mentor & Interns.

    The meeting started with the formal introductions of everyone where an amazing thing came out to be that most of the interns interning at this NGO were from my residential city, 
    "The Jhumka City of India - Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh"

    After the series of introductions, everyone was asked about his/her vision which he/she see for this social internship. As I have already been a volunteer at some NGOs in the past, so my vision was clear to contribute to my best for the welfare of society so that no one remains unequal and should enjoy every basic need.

    In the succeeding meetings, the SWOT of each intern was discussed and NGO Mentor told the scope of improvement in preparing such professional analysis.

    For the same, following contents were to be displayed in the presentation so that an elaborated understanding can be made by going through the document:
    • Basic Model of School Building
    • Required Bamboo for School Building
    • Cemented Floor and Carpeting
    • Roof of School
    • Furniture
    • Electrification
    • Gates (Main Gate & Room Gates)
    • Fencing
    • Material Cost
    • Labour Cost

    So, we divided each stuff amongst us for collaborative work and to get it done fast as we were given a very short deadline for its completion.

    I as a Group Leader of the NGO along with my fellow Co-Group Leader took a few unofficial meetings for dividing the work and to supervise.

    The second week started with reviewing the presentation by the NGO Mentor which was prepared by all the interns on "Project Bamboo School Building".

    The NGO Mentor asked each of us about our contribution to the making of the presentation and asked us to explain the slides which are prepared by every individual.

    After reviewing and discussing it, he appreciated all the interns for completing it within the deadline and even told us how it could have been more improvised.

    I & my Co- Group Leader took regular meetings with the Interns on the following agendas:
    • First meet under Week-3 was held to discuss the topics which each of us will take. Every topic was supposed to be different from the other, basic and unique.

    • Next meet was conducted to decide the video editing software which can be opted for the trimming and basic editing of the video.

      Every intern told their opinions concluding which Canva was taken as the primary software for making the video and adding graphics, transitions in it as Canva is easy to use.

      For having a good hand over Canva, we requested Ms. Aakriti Khandelwal (fellow intern) to take a workshop on "How to use Canva".
    • The last meeting of Week-3 was held for fixing up the issue of Voice Over as the NGO Mentor directed us to add our voice over mandatorily in the video.

    Some of the interns were changing their topic as they were facing difficulties with the prvious topic they chose so a meeting was conducted by the Group Leaders to finalise the topics and to discuss the topics with each other.
    After the topics were finalized, they were sent to the NGO Mentor.

    Further, a meeting was called on June 23 by the Group Leaders for reviewing some of the videos which were made by few interns so that those who were still figuring out the way to start can get an idea.

    Last meeting of Week-3 was taken on June 25 by the Group Leaders for announcing that the sample videos will be reviewed in the next week and all have to submit it by the weekend. Few interns had some doubts which were cleared and everyone was now set to prepare the sample video.

    The week started by having a meeting on June 27 where the sample educational videos of all the interns were played through screen sharing and interns discussed on how someone's video can be improved. 

    After this particular meeting, our NGO Mentor was supposed to review the sample videos, so we tried our best to showcase something productive after days of hard work.

    The next meeting was conducted by the NGO Mentor for reviewing all the sample videos. He asked us to screen share the videos one by one and saw every video minutely. Each intern was satisfied with whatever best they were able to do in the past 2 months. I promised my mentor to visit S.M.I.L.E at least once in the near future so as to spend some time with the S.M.I.L.E family.

    It was overall a happy ending of the internship but not from society.
