Reminds me of Criminal Minds, a show I have previously watched. They specifically look at the why of these killers and go into their minds to find out who this person is that they are looking for. In the first episode of Burden of Proof, they bring in a psychologist to look at the letter the missing girl wrote. He then goes into this letter and picks it apart ,looking at every single detail.
