Produced in 2011, this American horror movie is set in West Virginia and is based around cannibals. It sets back to 1974 where 3 deformed brothers (known as the Hillickers) escape the prison sells and together, with the other patients, they massacre all the people with authority. The movie then skips to 2003 (29 years later) where a group of students set out on snowmobiles to look for their friend Porter's cabin in the mountains. When they get lost in a snowstorm, they are forced to take the 'wrong turn' and stay the night in the Glensville Sanatorium. One of the characters, Lauren, warns the others about stories she heard about the sanatorium but no one believes her until Vincent, another character sets off to look around and finds Porter's corpse and soon after Vincent is also killed by one of the cannibals known as Saw Tooth. The movie has no characters left at the end as everyone gets massacred but only the cannibals survive. The end shows that 2 girls remain but when they start escaping on one of the snowmobiles, they get decapitated with barbed wire and the cannibals collect the heads and throw them onto a tow truck whilst also setting off.The use of extreme gore gives the audience an uneasy feeling as well as mixed emotions. Personally, I found the ending quite funny but I was left with shock as well.  As the setting is in a snow-filled atmosphere, when blood is spilt onto it, it makes it stand out making the audience feel uncomfortable. It gives the audience a real sense of what to expect throughout. It shows the different methods the cannibals use to massacre each and every character. The first one shows a bloody, severed hand in the snow with a missing thumb. This makes the audience fear whatever is the killer and foreshadows the type of things that my take place throughout the movie. The second poster also has an impact on the audience as it shows a silhouette figure of a person holding an axe in one hand and a decapitated head in the other.
