Estas características hacen que se encuentren en un gran peligro de extinción, dado que la falta de lluvias por el calentamiento global hicieron cada vez mas raros el fenómeno de las crecientes tan necesarias para su subsistencia, aunada por la tala de bosques y falta de sombrío. La inflorescencia es de aproximadamente 30 cms de largo con ramos de hasta diez flores de color azul-violeta.

For example, a single tree in some places in Colombia can host more orchid species than an entire forest in a country with seasons.
