Definition: Jim crow laws were acts passed in southern states that segregated white people from black people in public and private manors.
Population Affect: The population this affected negatively was the black population as they were not allowed to partake in certain activities or facilities that white people could that were funded meaning they were forced to live a lower quality of life.

Definition: A system in which workers are forced into servitude which mostly equated to labor in order to pay off a debt they occurred.
Population Affect: This affected the black and Mexican population poorly as they were forced into slavery for a debt that was often increased through interest, extending their servitude and slavery. This affected the white or debt receiving population well as they received practically free labor for a debt which they issued and upheld.

Definition: Racial discrimination in the South was though to be worse than in the North but black people still experienced racial segregation in forms of separation of the two races in the north
Population Affect: Black people were the population effected negatively as they received inhumane treatment in the south and slightly better but still racially unjust treatment in the north. The white population benefited from this as they received all of the benefits which were kept from the black population through segregation and discrimination.

Definition: The expected social rules or customs which black people were meant to uphold when in relations to white people
Population Affect: Black people were the population effected as they were often subject to humiliation and discrimination because of these socially expected norms, perpetuating the notion of white superiority in American society.
