Jose de San Martin was an Argentine soldier, statesman, and national hero who helped the revolution against Spanish rule in Argentina, Chile, and Peru. Between 1812 and 1821, he liberated Chile, which he turned over to Bernardo O’Higgins, and proceeded to Peru by ship, where he blockaded the chief port until the royalists withdrew. This song is about needing a hero and finding someone who will fight for what’s right and fight for the people in need.

“ I’ve got to fight today to live another day” “Speakin’ my mind today my voice will be heard today” “It’s just another war” “I’m going to fight for what’s right”

I chose this song because Jose de San Martin was a national hero who helped the revolution against Spanish rule in multiple countries and blocked the chief port until the royalists withdrew.

Toussaint L’Ouverture was the leader of the Haitian independence movement during the French Revolution between 1787 and 1799. He emancipated the enslaved people and negotiated for the French Colony on Hispaniola, Saint-Domingue (later to be Haiti), to be briefly governed by former enslaved people as a French protectorate. This song is about trying to grow trees and needing to get a seed that could change the world for them, as well as different people’s perspectives on needing a tree.

“Let it grow” “Let’s celebrate the World’s Rebirth” “It’s just one tiny seed but it’s all we really need”

I chose this song because Toussaint L’Ouverture freed the enslaved people and negotiated for the French Colony on Hispaniola, Saint-Domingue (later to be Haiti), to be briefly governed by formerly enslaved people as a French protectorate.

The Enlightenment was a European intellectual movement of the 17th and 18th centuries. These are related to ideas concerning God, reason, nature, and humanity that were synthesized into a worldview that gained wide assent in the West and instigated revolutionary development in art, philosophy, and politics. This song is about “following the end of the American Revolution War and the news of the tragic death of John Laurens at the hands of fleeing British soldiers after the war’s conclusion, “Non-Stop” closes out the first act by recounting Hamilton’s exceedingly busy and self-centered life”. “Write day and night like you’re running out of time” and “I’ve seen injustice in the world and I’ve corrected it” “Every proclamation guarantees free ammunition for your enemies” Do you support this constitution? : of course, : Then defend it”

I chose this song because it talks about the American Revolution and talks about wanting to improve the Constitution which relates to the Enlightenment.

Manuela Sáenz was an Ecuadorian revolutionary heroine of South America because she supported the revolutionary cause by gathering information, distributing leaflets, and protesting for women's rights. This song is about girls/women taking over the “world” and how they are just as capable as men of doing stuff that is “men only” or male-dominated. Also, women are capable of having children and then going back to work to provide for the children they just had or have.

“Who Run The World Girls” “My persuasion can build a nation with endless power with our love we can devour” and “I’m repping for the girls who takin over the world”.

Manuela Sáenz was a woman who gathered information, distributed leaflets, and protested for women's rights.

A Roman Catholic priest and revolutionary leader, he is called the father of Mexican independence. On September 16, 1810, he rang the church bell in Dolores to call his parishioners to an announcement of revolution against the Spanish. His speech was not only an encouragement to revolt but a cry for racial equality and the redistribution of land. This song is about the inner strengths that we have and no matter how hard other people try to bring us down or work to our downfall we won’t fall to them or give up.

“You shoot me down, but I get up” “You shoot me down but I won’t fall I am titanium” “Cut me down but it’s you who’ll have further to fall” “Machine gun fired at the ones who run”

I chose this song because it relates to Father Miguel Hidalgo giving an encouraging speech to the parishioners and for him to let out a cry for racial equality and redistribution of land.
