The main idea from this book is about how MLK Jr suffered a lot of racism as he grew up and how he became the men he was. 
Social Issue and Author's point of view:
The social issue from this book was racism. I think the author's point of view would be that he respects MLK Jr and that he would be on "his side" (Author Name Ch.) The main difference would be the way that MLK Jr was able to overcome racism, he did it through the power of speech.

Social issue and Author's point of view:
The social issue would be that Muhammad Ali suffered a lot of racism and he inspired people to be grateful for their colors and how they are. The main difference would be how Muhammad Ali was able to overcome racism, he did it by becoming the champion of boxing. A similarity between both books would be that they both suffer racism.  I think that both of the author's showed how both these men suffered racism and how they were able to overcome that and inspire people.
Individually explaining:
In book 1 MLK Jr inspired people through the power of speech. In book 2 Muhammad Ali inspired people through fighting and how the author mentions, "everyone in the block liked his playing with us". So he was playing with everyone because they were "his people".
Quotes:
Book1: In book 1 there is a quote that shows racism, it is this one, “Growing up in the South was not easy for Martin Luther King, Jr. He was born in 1929, when black people were treated very differently than white people.”(Ch 1) In this quote we can see that the author explicitly said that MLK Jr sufered racism as growing up.

The central Idea of the podcast is to show racism and how it is a very big problem in our world. In order to do this there are personal stories to help the reader to really see the problem. There is also a music in the backgeound that helps the reader to engage to the problem.

The author's purpose in this story would be to help the reader understand the problem because the author's perspective is to explain the problem to the reader. An example would be this, “He wanted me to understand that although this wasn’t the 60s, although this was not the era that we see on television, of the black and white images of people being beaten by the police, being hunt by trees, or being spit on when they attempt to go to school.
