There was a few different misconceptions about rhetoric. Some people thought that it wasn't true or a bit of a lie. Some people thought it was wrong or almost gross. It is also associated with disagreement so I feel like that definitely made it come off as negative. It was almost used to agree to disagree, so people always thought it wasn't anything great.

Rhetoric ties into this because with making friends you have to sort of put the best version of yourself out there. Your using persuasive language to "convince" people to be your friend. Rhetoric comes in handy to make conversations easier and persuade people to be friends. Everyone in our group has benefited from using rhetoric to make and keep friends over the past week.

Carter G, Zach, Alyssa, Ariana - 2. Cicero saw examples of public things like rooms, monuments, or buildings as public things that could be left to a persons own interpretation, I feel that some that exist in public would be religious centers such as churches or other religious sites were created for the intended use of those as places of worship or growth. I feel they were intended to offer safe spaces for those who are religious for them to worship and pray safely without fear of harm from others. A second example being theatre's, pavilions, or public squares for entertainment, as pointed out many in Ancient Rome focused on telling stories and showing certain situations to prevent others from making mistakes or doing things correctly. They were intended to show different perspectives of shows for others.

Plato belived that teachers who taught rhetoric were instructing their students to deceive others rather than to better themselves. Page 40 & 41

2. Cicero thought about different ways to memorize, Such as walking around into different rooms of the house and each room being a different section of the speech. He also spoke about the romans having spaces that were rhetorically important that were associated with the culture and the roman way of life. PG 54.

3.

We have all written persuasive essays where you would have to think of a topic and explain why you feel one way or another. Typically, it was political or a common debate where there were no right or wrong answers. This is to train, typically high school students, how to have a civil debate and find logical reasoning. It also helps students understand all points of the topic they are describing, this way the essay seems more reliable. You usually have to cite your sources and avoid being biased.

The perspective that gave me to look at anything I see and understand exactly why or what the reasoning behind that object is very interesting to me. Another interesting point made was how paying attention to the rhetoric you use is very important in getting the point you want across. Weather its an email to a Professor, a text to a parent or a conversation with a friend. Every aspect of rhetoric used gives you an edge on whatever the goal is.

The ethos, pathos, logos, and kairos concept was also interesting, thinking of how deep that people have studied rhetoric.
