My thoughts and reflections

Mentimeter would be a great tool to gather results from questions asked in a whole group setting. Not only could you get an snapshot of the comprehension of a class but those participating could see the results from other peers.

This would be an amazing online tool to review material before a test or even have a quick "exit quiz" for students to participate in.

The ways to use this tool in a classroom setting are numerous. Both students and teachers can see results quickly to check for understanding.

In the classroom this tool can have so many applications.

A teacher can send a link to student's email accounts and ask polls before or after class as homework responses. In class group discussions polls can be used to ask such questions as "how would you begin your STEM project" to "which character in the story most represented ...."

Polls can be a great group discussion tool in a classroom setting and this online resource would show instant results for the discussion to continue after the poll was taken.

Linoit would be a great collaborative board for STEM or PBL project work. As groups A, B or C finish part of an assignment they can post their discoveries on the board. Using tags, they are able to focus only on their collaboration by using a group number which is less distracting. If needed, they could still have access to all group work for the project as well. Students can add video support information, images and documentation linked on special sticky notes. The sticky notes are color coded if that is necessary for organizational groupings.

There are infinite uses for this web 2.0 tool. The example above is only one example of how Linoit could be used in a classroom setting. Once teachers see this unique tool they can create multiple ways to incorporate this into their teaching routines.

I have used Kahoot in my classroom for several years.

Kahoot is a wonderful resource for quiz or review questions to get your class energized in a competition for correct answers and quick responses. The whole class was excited to use this resource and was engaged in the activity the entire time.
You are able to set the number of questions, type of questions, and time limit for each question. The results of student responses were shown promptly and the correct answer was indicated after each question. If all the participants answer a question before the time limit then the question automatically displayed the results not wasting time for the timer to finish. The results being posted with a pause between questions gives the teacher time to verbally reflect with the class. As a teacher using this resource, it was great to be able to see misconceptions and indicate correct responses reiterating why they were correct.

In all, Kahoot is another great online resource for the classroom that students really enjoy using.

This is an amazing tool for brainstorming and quick response answers in the classroom.

With this tool teachers are able to ask a question of their choice and once given the link students can respond as many times as they would like. The results are shown in real time on the screen with all duplicate answers highlighted by the display of the word increasing in font size. After all the responses are gathered the teacher has the option to export them into creative "Wordle" and "Tagxedo" displays or they can share daily classwork with parents on social media sites.

Teachers are able to use this online tool in a variety of ways to include jump starting a lesson, during a class group discussion or as an "exit ticket" question. This quick tool would show both teachers and students the variety of thoughts and comprehension during a group class discussion.

Tinyurl shortens long complicated URL's so the flow of the class is easy for students to quickly look up the next online task a teacher is assigning. It eliminates the confusion of questions such as "is that a 1 or an l" because you are able to create concise replacements for long URL's with numbers and letters that might be tricky to navigate .

This task is a wonderful digital Professional Development activity that all teachers should get a chance to have hands-on practice with. These Web 2.o tools and tasks can help teachers streamline classrooms that are marching towards digital integration and STEM or PBL in the classroom.

Teachers have limited time to complete all that is required of them in the classroom and this was a great task to be able to work and learn, if necessary, at their own pace.

Personally, I plan to research and continue growth in various Web 2.o tools that are available to help teachers and students in the classroom. With reading various educational posts and current educational news sites, I am able to explore new tools and refresh on ones that have been around but might have been forgotten. I am documenting all helpful Web 2.0 tools I come across in a digital portfolio to be able to share with other educators that are in need of further information.

With technology ever changing, as educators, we must continue to search and explore new tools.
