Each of these countries had different ideas of what this country should look like. (Communism/Capitalism) During the war the U.S. was in charge of the South, and the USSR led the North. Both were separated by the 38th Parallel. President Truman was deeply concerned with the thought of spreading communism. It was viewed as "A direct threat to the U.S. democracy". General MacArthur believed that a total victory for the U.S. was the only way to go, but Truman disagreed. After MacArthur was caught speaking and lobbying for his ideas in Congress, President Truman relieved him of his duties. Then by 1951 both sides were sitting at a stalemate.
