Discussion Highlights:
-1. Dr.Manhattans’ fleeing to mars will most likely have a great effect on the novel. He says “ It seems I’m incapable of cohabiting safely either emotionally or physically.” He feels he is of no help and with someone else gone Rorschach is pretty much alone. The world is dependent on Manhattan being there and without him they will be lost.
-2. I think Laurie definitely feels guilty about Manhattan's departure and rightfully so. She knows how important of a man Manhattan is and she’s willing to leave him over the clone stunt. Although Manhattan shouldn’t have done it because what he did was weird and creepy, Laurie still overreacted. I think now we will see her try to get Manhattan to come back somehow.
-3. I think Rorschach will continue to pursue his goal of uncovering the mystery of this vigilante killer. To Rorschach, the absence of Dr. Manhattan acts as if he’s gone permanently. The meeting went well. Many interesting theories and observations were brought up concerning the plot. We had a productive discussion about these that made the book clearer to understand for all of us.
2. Many intricate details that were not previously noticed due to the depth and complication of the book were brought up and further discussed.
3. Each of us contributed an equal amount and were helpful to each other. We made overall progress in the discussion of the novel.
4. Discussion Highlights:
-1. I’m not entirely sure who killed Rorschach; however I think it has to be someone who knows him well so therefore someone we’ve already met. Only problem is that Rorschach is mysterious and I don’t really know who could know him well aside from Manhattan and Laurie. Whoever it was, knew that Rorschach was suspicious of Moloch and would be interrogating him that day.

-2. I think Dr. Manhattan does feel dehumanized by the American government because they viewed him as a weapon instead of as a person. The used Dr. Manhattan for executions and to carry out secret missions with no care for how he felt. They never acknowledged how their actions affected Dr. Manhattan or how he felt about them.

- 3. I don’t think Rorschach will escape. This is due to the heavy surveillance on him in prison and studying of his mental state. He is shown to be mentally unstable and traumatized by his childhood with his mothers prostitution. Furthermore, his fellow inmates all want to kill him due to him causing them to get locked up. This means that the whole prison system working against him, which greatly decreases the odds of him escaping.

-I wasn’t surprised because it felt like he was bound to come back. It wouldn’t really make sense to involve him in the book just for him to leave in the first half of the book. His entrance was at a slightly unexpected time though.

Meeting went well. Nice way to close on the book. As always, everyone was respectful to one another and no one was too loud.
2. Phenomenal in wrapping the book up. Discussed many major themes like government corruption in the watchmen. We also discussed how the Cold War impacted Manhattan.
3. One thing I enjoyed the most was talking about Ozymandias’ plan and how it did work to an extent. - Eddie is characterized as a bad person who always tries to get the last laugh on people. He makes jokes out of serious things that can make people mad. (1)
