I decided to change the idea for the final assignment because a skeleton is not really suitable for showing facial expressions and it doesn’t really pin point out the exact historical period.

At first l, I was about to create 6 characters based on real figures in that period like: Truman, Oppenheimer, Hitler, Einstein and so on with 6 different expressions for each person .

However, my work doesn't meet the requirements of the assignment. I will do my best to adjust my drawing as soon as possible.

• Bird in a cage: I design the dress with an emphasis on the crinoline (which was popular at the time) to resemble a bird cage. Crinolines were popular as they create a fashionable silhoutte, but it's difficult to move freely in them. The sleeves of the dress are also layered like a bird's wings. Caged birds can't survive on their own; which is similar to Victorian women, who spent their youth preparing for marriage and have no job skill.

• Peacock hat: Feathered hat was extremely popular during the time, and people would even go as far as wearing the whole bird on their head. The peacock represents confidence, so having a taxidermy one would suggest she only possessed the illusion of self confidence through the display of wealth.

• White orchid decorations: white orchid symbolize beauty, innocent and purity, dependant on the environment, luxury and underlying rot. They are flowers of wedding - Victorian women's valued are tied to their marriage.

In my sketches, I prioritize accuracy, particularly in depicting clothing, body types, and emotions reflective of the historical period. However, due to my limited sketching and drawing skills, as well as an incomplete understanding of the task requirements, the results appear somewhat subpar. I chose a few expressions for my character, as this is what astronauts usually feel when they're on their missions:

Surprised/awe

The last one is him waving back to the Earth, his home. I am not very sure about this one, since it doesn't show any emotion aside from his body expression, so I may change it to something else.

1. Happy: the woman's job is to sell goods in the market, although it is hard, the woman is always happy to sell. 

2. Tired: the woman is working hard in the corn field with a tired face in the hot noon sun. 

3. Proud: although life is difficult and hard, the woman always tries to take care of her family. And the child is the best gift that God has given her. 

4. Hope: the woman always carries within her a great love for her country and she always hopes for the country to be independent and peaceful.

A sorrowful story: The pain within the royal family

The Trần dynasty was known for its internal marriages (marriages between cousins or uncles and nieces) to consolidate power. However, this often led to family conflicts. One of the sorrowful stories related to Trần Nhân Tông was the disputes within the royal family, especially between him and some close relatives.

A joyful story: Peaceful and prosperous reign

After defeating the Mongol–Yuan invaders, Trần Nhân Tông focused on restoring the country.

A poignant story: Abdicating the throne

Despite being the emperor of a powerful dynasty, Trần Nhân Tông was deeply concerned with the human condition.

The two wars against the Mongol–Yuan invaders (1285 and 1287–1288) were the greatest achievements of Trần Nhân Tông’s reign.

There are 3 expressions of my characters in the picture

1: Tired : the soldier have to fight every every day , that just want to go home , just want the war go to the end

2: Panic : The soldier was so panic after he came back , he knows that all he did at the war is not happen like everyone imagine

3: Sad : Many years later , some friend , some family go to cemetery to visit their brother , their husband . They still remember their relatives and hate the hitler .

I have depicted a female character from the Renaissance period (1350–1620), showcasing the classical, elegant, and refined beauty of this era. The main character wears a dress and shawl in Renaissance style, with each detail meticulously crafted. The painting particularly emphasizes the diverse expressions of the woman, including:

- Crying: Her tearful eyes reflect profound emotions, conveying meaningful sorrow.

- Joyful: A radiant smile and sparkling eyes express genuine happiness.

- Serious: A sharp, determined face and gaze demonstrate strength and resolve.

- Sad: Gentle gestures and a pensive look evoke thoughtfulness and loneliness.

Through the transformation in each expression, the painting narrates a story of the character's rich inner world while embodying the profound artistic spirit of the Renaissance period.

The short story Vợ chồng A Phủ by Tô Hoài is set in the mountainous regions of northwestern Vietnam and depicts the oppression of ethnic minorities under feudal and colonial rule.

The story follows Mị, a beautiful and hardworking H'Mông girl, who is forced into becoming a daughter-in-law (essentially a servant) for the powerful, cruel ruler Pá Tra as a repayment for her father’s debt. Though initially full of life, Mị gradually becomes numb and resigned to her fate.

One day, A Phủ, a strong and brave young man, is caught and punished by Pá Tra’s family for a minor offense. He is bound and left to suffer in the cold. Witnessing his pain, Mị, who has long been oppressed, finds the courage to free him. The two escape together and later build a new life in a freer, more just society.

The story highlights themes of oppression, resilience, and the fight for freedom.

I plan to remove the bonfire,add a big plate in the middle to act as a focal point.The base paper is not great,but if i add a different base layer,for just the big plate in the middle, then i think it could still work

On the left, there will be a collage of pictures taken in the early age of photography - black and white, grainy pictures

On right, because of advancements in the industry, the collage of pictures will be more vibrant, in HD

I'm planning to use different paper types with different colors, patterns and textures. I will cut objects from magazines and old text books.

Period: The Edo era

I chose the topic of Geisha because they are an important part of Japanese culture and history. They are highly skilled in traditional arts like dance, music, and tea ceremonies. I find their way of life interesting because it requires a lot of discipline and dedication. Learning about Geisha helps me understand more about Japanese traditions and how they have changed over time. I also think that many people have misunderstandings about Geisha, so this topic allows me to explore the truth behind their role in society.
