This is a picture of a Nike shoe on a wall in the city. This picture connects to the book by showing a version of a Nike shoe that was very popular during a time. These shoes were called the "Air Jordan" shoes and were first released in 1985. This shoe matters because it represents one of the popular Nike shoes and Michael Jordan's deal with Nike really took Nike to another level in terms of being a shoe company. These contributed to all athletes by Nike being able to provide a shoe that was very high quality and not too many companies could provide a shoe like this during the 1980s.

Link: https://www.poemsearcher.com/topic/leadership#&gid=1&pid=9
This poem talks about the great qualities that a leader should have. These traits translate for every leader including a leader or CEO of a business. One trait that really stuck out to me which you don't see too many leaders have is being selfless. Most leaders are selfish and want to benefit the most from whatever they are doing. A leader should get more benefits because they are probably leading, but there is a line between selfish and selfless.

This TED Talk connects to my book by providing some information on the thought process and how it is a risk. Starting a business will involve investing from the beginning to jump-start the business, and the risk about it is that the business may not succeed. It may take a year or even more than a year to start to grow. This TED Talk elevates the conversation by the providing a quote which is "Smiling at success; laughing at failure".

https://hbr.org/1992/07/high-performance-marketing-an-interview-with-nikes-phil-knight: This is a very interesting interview with Phil Knight. In this interview, I found out how Knight turned Blue Ribbon Sports into a bigger company named Nike.

Phil Knight was born on February 24, 1938, and was an American Businessman. He is the co-founder and chairman of the company Nike. Knight started this company after college with coach Bowerman. In the beginning, he first started to sell Japanese Sports Shoes and eventually spread out to be a Sports company. In college, Knight ran track which is what originally inspired him in the first place to start a shoe company. Knight studied at the University of Oregon and then went on to Stanford GRaduate School of Business. To this day, Knight is still very active in his universities and donates a lot of funds.

Knight's successful journey started in 1962 and originally wanted to become a successful athlete. One morning, Knight had a crazy idea and wanted to import sneakers from Japan. His father approved of the idea, but his grandmother argued it. Once Knight the Japanese company, they became interested. He decided to enter the tennis shoe company and on his birthday, some samples from Japan arrived. Coach Bowerman became interested and when Knight ordered 300 pairs of shoes, they sold out immediately. His company was expanding, but running was not a popular sport. Even though Blue Ribbon wasn't reaching its full potential, the new tennis company developed a new design named Nike. At the 1976 Olympics, Nike received a lot of exposure as three Olympic athletes were wearing sneakers, and won three gold medals. This helped Nike a lot and made a public offering of shares which was $22 on the first day. Forty years later, Knight became one of the largest billionaires in the US.

This picture represents a successful leader. George Washington was the first president of the United States and set the US up for success. Washington is considered to be one of the founding fathers. A technique that he used which was well liked was the formal authority, which is authority granted from above and informal authority, which is given to someone from below by their subordinates. This will allow Washington to be able to get various opinions that will try to accommodate all US citizens from different social classes.
