Even though Piggy won't do certain things because of his asthma or what his aunt taught him, Ralph pushes him to explore. Ralph continues to be nice to Piggy, and eventually Piggy opens up and becomes more outgoing than when they first met. I think that as the book continues, Ralph will stick up for Piggy, even though it may seem like Ralph doesn't like Piggy;.
