It depicts her interpretation of a black dog with burning red eyes that is a part of Guatemalan folklore. El Cadejo protects drunkards who have fallen asleep on the streets. The scary yet protective portrayal of the dog was her way of expressing the feelings of frustration and home-sickness the lockdown has caused. This is being stuck somewhere that doesn't feel like home.  Although the lockdown and everything it's brought with it has been a burden to everyone, most people (like myself) are living through it at home. I've never thought about what it would feel like to be almost trapped in a place or country that is unfamiliar. Even for those that are stuck somewhere they're comfortable,  homesickness will eventually set in.
