They are similar because both of them are Latina women who grew up in neighborhoods that are less fortunate. They are also both fierce and headstrong. They are different because Xiomara is more creative, and she is more defensive. But both are family oriented and smart. My family isn't that strict with religion so it came to a surprise to me how strict Xiomara's mom was with church and sunday school in the book.
