Bilbo Baggins lives in his town, peacefully going about life normally. He is alone and happy in his rhythm of life and is pleased to be in his home. He states he is never late and is always on a strict schedule he is satisfied with.

Call to Adventure

Bilbo receives company from people after being visited by a wizard. The men gather and invite him to their party to retrieve something they need. They party and sing all the time while Bilbo is panicking on why they are there. This leads to them explaining the reason they're there fully.

Meeting the Mentor

The wizard reveals himself to Bilbo and accompanies the group claiming to know where to look. This is the main thing for Bilbo because later in the series, there are many times the group and Bilbo mainly would have either died or the adventure would have ended.

Crossing the Threshold

After the group falls asleep and claims they will leave in the morning, Bilbo goes to bed to contemplate about going. He wakes up and realizes he is late or leaving and doesn't think twice about leaving. Bilbo runs after them and joins them on their journey officially.

Allies, Trials, and Enemies

During the adventure, Bilbo and the group face many difficult challenges like fighting monsters, clearing dangerous areas, and escaping certain death. This helps Bilbo into the true nature of the journey.

Approach the Inmost Cave

After falling down after being captured by trolls, Bilbo lands in the deeper part of the cave and wakes up from the fall. Standing and walking deeper into the cave, he comes across a creature. After a while, he finds a ring and grabs it which gets the attention of the creature. They talk and eventually it gets violent, which ends up Bilbo putting the ring on and he figures out it makes him invisible. After exiting the cave and meeting back up with the group, he hides it from the others and goes along.

The Supreme Ordeal

Bilbo finally reaches the mountain with his group and goes inside. He is met with one of his worst fears, a dragon. The ordeal that fighting this dragon proves is that he has gotten so far in the story from where he was in the beginning.

Reward

After defeating the dragon, Bilbo obtains the main treasure they have been seeking the entire story, the Arkenstone. The dwarves celebrate and congratulate him for retrieving it successfully. This is the final reward in The Hobbit for Bilbo in the first book/movie.

The Road Back

After deciding he must go back home, Bilbo proceeds to go and check on who was left after the war and who was alive. Leaving to go back to his home, the wizard accompanies him some of the way and leaves him to return. This road back is calmer and better for Bilbo after facing the triumphs of monsters, fighting, traps, and more difficult obstacles.

Resurrection

Bilbo returns back to his home and continues to live his normal life. After a short time, the wizard pays a visit to Bilbo and claims he is not the same Hobbit he was before the adventure. He states that he has changed and can now say he has officially been on an adventure.
