My full name is Nyayu Shaza Qays Amanina, you can call me Shaza. There's some things I hope to gain in this advanced English class. First, I hope I can grow my English skill to its full potential. Second, I hope that I can articulate and deliver english flowier and better. Third, I want to process information faster from texts, rather than having to read it multiple times. That way, I can make use of my English skills for a better TOEFL score, as well as english competitions that will be beneficial for the acceptance to my dream university which is University of Indonesia.

What I struggle in English is that sometimes I find it hard to find the word that fits the context of what I am trying to deliver as the English dictionary is very rich. I also struggle to spell some words. As well as translating my thoughts into english words in speaking.

I hope for fun and relaxed studying to happen in this class. Because often times English classes are very tense, silent and lack the fun in studying in my opinion.

I struggle with pronunciation, writing, and listening Sometimes it’s hard to understand when native speakers talk fast. But I’m trying to practice more by watching English videos and reading simple texts.

A goal i’ve had for a long time is that i would be able to go to a university outside of Indonesia. One that stuck out to me most was to start a new journey for knowledge in Singapore. A requirement for this was having good skills in english.

Grammar, listening, reading, writing, and speaking english is a must-have skill for this. Hence why i joined this class, to further improve my growing skills in english. A small goal i have set for myself is to acquire an outstanding grade for my IELTS test, because it is essentially the key that will determine how good my english skills are. Although i do have external help for that, i do hope that this class would help me gain that as well.

After learning english my whole life, i’ve discovered that gatting information through text have always been tricky for me. Not only for english, but for my native language too. I once took a test to discover my learning type and i found out i’m more of a kinesthetic learner which means that i gain knowledge more efficiently through practical things, and so i speculate that this might be the reason as to why.

Truth be told, i have never found learning language as being “entertaining” per se, yet i have always been drawn to english debates. I’ve watched many english debates, one of the more popular ones are from MUN’s (Model United Nations) which discusses real world topics in a role-play style debate. Not only does it look fun, it trains the way we express our opinions formally and in a way that can be understood easily. And so, if there were something i’d wish for to happen in this class, it would be this.

The things i hope to reach is to feel less lazy and more diligent in the future in attending this class because i want to improve my IELTS for the better future of me gaining a scholarship to MONASH in Australia while also gaining more confident in speaking and expressing myself both physically and mentally at the same time.

Things I struggle with in learning English have mostly been speaking. Either I jumble up my words or I forget what to say, I’d like to improve myself there.

I wish that I could make some good memories here in this English class. Of course, I will learn, but I’m also spending my teenage years here. With that, I’d hope to spend my time to also make memories. I want something that can stand both in my past and my future. For my future, I’m planning to be a pediatrician. A thing that i struggle at in english is mostly in the speaking department. If im not reading and im just making stuff up on the fly i will stutter pretty badly. I believe this happens because i am not confident and if i say something wrong i will make other people angry. Because of that i wish that this class will focus mainly on writing and things that dont involve speaking.

My goal in life is simple, i want to live the good life. I believe that english will help me with that as english is a language that a majority of the population knows it and communication is key to living a good life. I also want to write a lot. I have a ton of ideas that i think are too good just to keep to myself and want to share to the world. English is the language i most understand and writing in it is much more pleasing compared to other languages

In a nutshell, I want to be able to speak with the eloquence (wow fancy english word there LOL) of Shakespeare but currently sound more like Central Cee, British street slang and all. It’s a funny contrast, but I think it shows how much I love the said language in any form. That’s why I would really appreciate if this class could include high-level materials, like A-level English questions or even practice for exams such as IELTS or the SAT. I understand this may not be part of the standard curriculum, but it would be incredibly helpful and fun. Aside from that, I’d be excited to explore essay writing more deeply.

Although I’m not allowed to study abroad, my parents prefer I stay local and pursue medschool here. I still think being exposed to international-level English learning would benefit me greatly. One of my biggest struggles is writing academic letters and speaking in formal English. I’m not particularly a genius, I’m good at understanding lessons in school, but sometimes I doze off due to boredom which results in ups-and-downs while studying. Knowing that I now I can’t be that lazy to secure the future, I have to think fast a subject that I’m pretty good at by knowing formulas and without counting, then it clicked me. The moment I saw Advanced English as a class, I saw an opportunity that I have to quickly reach out to before the class closed. By joining Advanced English, my primary focus is to gain more knowledge in said subject, and able to fix my grades by (hopefully) obtaining good scores to help me in applying to college.

I don’t have extreme struggle when studying English, in my case I found it easy to understand how to write and speak, as I’ve been in an English course for 6 years before quitting due to busy schedules. Due to leaving for so long, however, causing me to have some problems with grammars where I tend to forgot which verb to use and the formula for certain sentences. hence because of that, I often use English with my gut telling me if I use the verb correctly or not, or just copying sentences in videos that I watched. This is mostly fine for me, but gets annoying when I have absolutely no idea what verb or formula to use in the context.

I’m hoping for said class to have activities like games to test vocabulary, an open discussion about topics then we have to answer questions related to it, es, writing to test grammar and imagination, and perhaps having drive where we can publish said writings and let people read it would be fun too. By studying English, other than getting scores and applying to college, I’m hoping to be able to share my imagination to the world through the universal language, studying English and planted my understanding back will help me in reaching those goals; by carving more understanding and help my application of this knowledge better.
