My Background in FFA

This is my third year as a member of FFA. This spring, I earned my State FFA Degree, the highest honor that can be achieved at the state level. I received this degree at the Oregon FFA State Convention in Redmond, Oregon, in recognition of my dedication, leadership, and involvement in agricultural education. Throughout my FFA career, I have competed in District Job Interview, State Floral Culture, State Farm Business Management, and District Rituals Career and Leadership Development Events. During my junior year, I served as Treasurer for my chapter, and I was recently elected to serve as Secretary for the upcoming year.

What Keeps me Busy Besides FFA

Outside of FFA, I am proud to maintain a 4.0 GPA. I am also actively involved in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), NHS (National Honor Society), and ASB (Associated Student Body). This year I also went to state for FBLA and placed 3rd in state for career portfolio. In addition, I own and operate my own vending machine business to help cover my agricultural expenses. Between school, extracurricular activities, and raising chickens, rabbits, lambs, and ducks, I have learned the value of responsibility, entrepreneurship, time management, and dedication.

Why I Chose to Raise a Lamb

I chose to raise a market lamb because I wanted to diversify my knowledge of agricultural practices and gain hands-on experience in another area of animal agriculture. Through this project, I have learned about nutrition, animal health, daily care, record keeping, and the responsibility required to raise a quality market animal. The proceeds from my project will help further my agricultural education, support the care of my current animals, and fund my market lamb project for next year’s fair.

Auction Information

The 2026 Marion County Junior Livestock Auction will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem. Buyer check-in and a complimentary lunch begin at 11:30 a.m., and the auction starts at 1:00 p.m. Lambs will be sold first this year, so they are expected to sell between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. You can register to be a buyer at www.mcjla.com/buyers.html
