I kind of stole the levels of AI use that MSVU uses and adapted it. Each assignment is assigned an acceptable level of AI use.

As a Grade 1/2, I haven't talked at all about AI. I haven't mentioned anything about AI to parents either. I really don't use AI much at all for my teaching.

I have indicated that AI can be used to help with homework problems but should not be used blindly as it is often incorrect in math. It can not be used line-for-line in any take home assignments.

I haven't had discussions with students - teaching Math and Phys Ed last year, AI use from my students wasn't really on my radar. Where I am teaching Science this year, I know AI will be a topic I have to tackle and discuss with students. Hoping to get some insights and advice from you folks on how to handle this topic with students.

I plan to go over it Friday a bit with my SS class. Today they used Google to research cultural aspects of indigenous groups. Friday I plan to let them use AI to see what it comes up with and compare.

My 9 FLA I've told them sometimes with research is fine, but never to write their work for them.

We talked about using AI as a starting point to help generate ideas. However, it can "hallucinate" if it doesn't know the answer, so it should not be the sole source they are using for their research.

One of my (grade 4) students was excited to tell me he was using ChatGPT to complete an assignment. I told him that I used it all the time, but that at school we can't use it until we're 13. He asked why and we ended up having a great class discussion about bias and critical thinking.

This year I don't use AI because we are sewing and cooking. Last year when I taught ELA 9 I posted in our Google Classroom, talked about AI use in class, and emailed home when it was misused.

At this point my students have no experience with AI use in the classroom. Yesterday they learned how to turn on and login to their Chromebooks! I have spoken with my Own children (13,15 year olds) about acceptable AI use, and they knew more than me!

For grade 7, we try to start with talks of plagiarism and academic integrity first, which seems to be a big new concept for a lot of them. Then we slowly try to incorporate ways we can appropriately use AI, while keeping most of their written work in class on paper.

I teach Grade 6. I have not really explored it YET anyway...I feel like we haven't gotten a lot of guidance from our Centre of Education on expectations and allowances which makes me feel nervous to venture into a lot of AI. The only thing I have really had my students do is use Quick, Draw! And have fostered conversations around AI generated images, nothing around writing yet!

We haven't discussed AI in primary. When I offer suggestions for Language Learning Apps to parents that use AI to tailor activities based on progress, I might mention it.

I have not discussed AI with my students yet this year. Last year we discussed using it as a research tool. We discussed that they would still need to find other credible resources or what sources AI was getting the information from.

I have not had these discussions in Primary. We are still practicing routines and expectations and have not used technology devices as of yet. I have overheard upper elementary teachers discussing students handing in work produced through AI.

In visual art AI is not used that much in the actual image making it's more hands on with pencil, marker etc. When students do research on a work of art in a written critique I ask students to reword the information into their own words.

Sort of, just my mother who is a retired teacher but has taken on a small percent coverage role at an elementary school. I have shown her ChatGPT so far to come up with lesson ideas and plans.

I have not started to educate my family community from school, but I have had many conversations with own my family about AI, we compare different ways that we use it at our jobs and have had conversations about the environmental impacts, they were shocked to learn that AI uses water

Yes I have, I find myself advocating for others to see it as an opportunity to enhance their knowledge or work for various topics such as curriculum night handouts, newsletters and alternative phrasing for tricky situations such as student behaviour

Yes, I have somewhat. I have shared some of the web sites and apps with my colleagues. I have also shared to actually check if AI for example ChatGPT is giving correct info as often what it says may not be true. I have checked and found a few times it was having hallucinations.

Yes, my mom thought it was a man named Al that was trying to add her on Snapchat. I've also discussed positives and negatives with some of my friends in health care. They use Microsoft versions for patient plans sometimes.

Yes and no. While I have not sent out communication to families via email or google classroom, it was talked about and touched on during curriculum night! I was able to talk to families about directly about our approach and expectations!

No. I still haven't introduced much technology at all into my teaching this year. I use some things on the SmartBoard such as Google Slides, Boom Cards, and YouTube. But it's all been controlled by me. I haven't talked to families at all about AI. I'm not sure if I will need to or not, considering I teach lower elementary and don't use AI much at all.

Yes, a bit. Thanks to this program, when AI gets brought up in my school community I can discuss all of the positive ways AI can be used to help make our lives as teacher's just a little bit easier

Not yet. I'm honestly not a huge AI fan simply based on the environmental repercussions which makes me shy away from it. However, I can't avoid it with my students, so I should probably take a more proactive approach!

Yes, I have 3 children and the youngest is 23 so AI is a great topic of conversation as he uses it all the time. We have introduced it to my husband who is a contractor. He is enjoying taking pictures of the new homes he builds and asking AI for images before choosing colours and different details and he loves AI for helping edit his emails.

I haven't yet. I mentioned a few times as reminders not to use it to do your work, just to research. I haven't done lessons around AI though. My 9s are working on essays and using AI doesn't seem to be too much of an issue.

I am often talking to my parents about Ai. They are in their 70s and are not overly familiar with too much technology. My mother is always on Youtube watching different shows in her language. My dad does not believe too much in technology. However, I have been using ChatGPT, to show him how to find interesting books and recipes. He does find it intriguing though. I help my mom find travel plans using ChatGPT to find places they can travel to and places they can stay. They find it very interesting. They are also kind of in disbelief.

Yes, I have explained a bit about AI with my two kids. I have tried to explain the various ways its being used. I like to use it for recipes so we have cooked a few things together from an AI recipe. They found the song generator fun as well.

I talked to my kids about it. How it can be a great tool, but beware of how it can be bias, and sometimes inaccurate. I mentioned you get what you put into it. We talked about how we are flooded with tons of lazy AI aimed to sell and influence. I tell them to question everything and think for themselves.

I have not at this time. As Learning Centre. I'm still in programming start up mode and technology in that aspecy isn't fully on the radar. Other then make sure my students have their Chromoebooks, logins and anything else like headphones with mic and mice. I probably will start talking about it more toward 2nd term as my students are mostly younger.

No. I have not yet, as I have only just begun to use tech with my kiddos. I have been sending a bi-weekly email to my student's families highlighting what we have been learning, including tech stuff. I plan on addressing AI use in the future. My plan (which, as an elementary teacher is very fluid) is to introduce AI in an age appropriate way, possibly with games, or creative ai, like picture or music generation.

On Curriculum Night, I mentioned to families that I am enrolled in this program and that technology would play an imporant role in our learning this year in Grade 4. I explained that students would have opportunities to publish and persent their work in digital fromats and I mentioned MagicSchool AI at that time. I tried to emphasize that we'd be focusing on digital citizenship skills and using technology safely, repsonsibly, and respectfully.
