Trichomoniasis vaginalis was the first to discovered by Alfred Francois Donne.  He was the first to describe this pathogen through a microscope.  It was described  as anaerobic, flagellated protozoan parasite and is the causative agent of Trichomoniasis.  It is the most common pathogenic protozoan infection of humans.  More than 160 million people worldwide are annually infected by this protozoan.
