         <description><![CDATA[<div><em>Haemophilus Influenzae</em> disease is a bacterial disease caused by the bacteria&nbsp;<em>H. influenzae</em>. There are six identifiable types of <em>H. influenzae </em>(A-F) as well as some non-identifiable types. It exists in the nose and throat, and causes infections when it spreads within the body. It can be spread to others through coughing and sneezing.          <description><![CDATA[<div>This study deals with <em>H. influenzae</em> and its susceptibility (or lack thereof) to antibiotics. Certain <em>H. influenzae</em> strains are resistant to certain antibiotics.          <description><![CDATA[<div><em>Haemophilus Influenzae</em> Type B can be prevented with a vaccine, though this vaccine will not prevent illness from the other types. <em>H. influenzae</em> can be contracted more than once, so the CDC still recommends the vaccine even if one has had Hib previously. If you have been in contact with some carrying <em>H. influenzae</em>, antibiotics may be prescribed to prevent you from becoming ill.<br><em>Haemophilus Influenzae</em> is treated with antibiotics and possibly, depending on the illness you contracted, hospitalization, breathing support, or wound care.<br>Both younger and older people are at an increased risk of getting <em>Haemophilus Influenzae</em>, as well as people with medical conditions such as Sickle Cell, Asplenia, or HIV.<br><a href="https://www.cdc.gov/hi-disease/about/prevention.html">PREVENTION</a>, <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/hi-disease/about/diagnosis-treatment.html">TREATMENT</a>, <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/hi-disease/about/causes-transmission.html">RISK</a></div>]]></description>

This is a wide range of illnesses, with some (such as Otitis Media or Sinusitis) being common and relatively unconcerning while others (such as Bloodstream Infections or Meningitis) can be deadly. These results of <em>Haemophilus Influenzae</em> are especially concerning considering Hib mostly affects young children.</div>]]></description>
