Students were told to learn about his lifestyle and what he did to change the movie industry.

This is what I learned:
Charlie Chaplin was a small man who was admired by many people for his acting and directing. Due to how he disguised himself in public, he was an actor that was thought to have a thousand faces. According to the text, when Chaplin walked out of a movie theater with a friend, someone pointed to him and stated, “There’s Charlie Chaplin!” However, the person next to him told him that he looked nothing like Charlie Chaplin! The man refused to believe what she said and told her that she couldn’t expect a person to look like Chaplin; because he was the master of disguise.

Artificial Intelligence-October
Another month passes by and it is now November. The teacher wanted the students to be more aware of how they are affected by artificial intelligence, so she told them to research the topic of artificial intelligence with a set of websites that were given.

This is what came out of that research:
The world today is surrounded mainly by artificial intelligence that most artificially intelligent programs are deemed to be a normal part of everyday life. For example, according to an article, it states that there are many artificially intelligent programs such as video games, smart cars, and security programs. Everything computer related is most likely an artificially intelligent program and people need to be aware of what they are surrounded by. In the late future, artificial intelligence could potentially take jobs away from humans and cause many people to lose their jobs; and even worse, homelessness. No person wants that to happen to themselves, so everyone today needs to be aware of artificial intelligence before it takes over the world and everyone’s jobs.

Chinese Mythology-November
Yet again, a month has passed and the teacher isn't stopping at just Technology. She is now expanding her student's horizons to the beginning of China; through Chinese Mythology. Students were given a link to an article that showed how the world was create based on Chinese Myths.

https://newsela.com/read/BHP-U1-4-chinese/id/3414

From that article, this is what I have deduced:
There are many myths about how the Earth came to be and one version would be the myth about a giant named Pan Gu, which was like the Chinese version about the Greek Goddess of Earth, Gaea. However, unlike Gaea who is known for being the Earth itself, Pan Gu is a part of the Earth.

Based on Chinese mythology, Pan Gu was born from an egg containing chaos, which was a mixture of Yin and Yang. According to beliefs, when he was first born he stood with his feet on Earth and his head against the sky. Every day, the Earth would grow to about ten feet a day and Pan Gu would grow along with it. Before the day of his death, he had already raised the sky so high up that the Earth and the Sky would never join again. On the other hand, after Pan Gu’s death, he became one with the Earth. According to the text on Newsela, when he died, his body and limbs turned into five big mountains, his blood into the flowing rivers, his skin into flowers and trees, and finally his sweat into falling rain that nurtured everything that was a part of Earth.

Through the use of the Chinese textbook, the teacher told her students to incorporate what they have learned into their writing. Using vocabulary and phrases from the text, the students were able to put more meaning into their words.

Textbook learning:
The three reasons why the Chinese in the early era immigrated to the U.S. were because they hoped to be rich, free, and away from the bad economy of China. They would reside in the central cities on the east coast of New York and the west coast of San Francisco. Before 1949, because the Chinese Immigrants had little to no education and they stuck together while speaking their own language, they could only build railroads, run laundry shops, and run restaurants at the time. However, after 1949 was when they finally started to spread themselves among other Americans. They started to learn more and most of the new Chinese immigrants got the education needed to work. About ten years later, the African American Civil Rights movement had started to affect the Chinese immigrants in several of ways; it brought to the surface that the people needed more well-educated people and they should not judge a person by their skin color and race.
