This book by Yuyi Morales is about a mother and child who become immigrants in a new land. They don't know any customs, the language of the new land or where to live. They go to a library and use books to figure everything out. The book shows how they used books to advocate for themselves.
This book is a great representation of the symbiotic relationship of illustration to literature. The pictures are described by the words on the page. This would really help a child visualize what they are reading or being read for that matter. The book also includes other books inside that are real books that inspired her which I found to be extremely interesting.

Too Many Frogs is a book about about a rabbit who has his own routine and at the end of overnight he goes to read himself a story. One day a frog knocks on his door because he wants to get out of the storm and wants to hear Rabbits story. The next two nights the frog comes back to listen but he destroys Rabbits clean house by making food and himself comfortable. On the fourth night Froggy brings his whole family for his family reunion. Rabbit reams Froggy out and froggy and his family leave. The next night Froggy doesn't come so Rabbit makes food and himself comfortable in order to find what's missing. Rabbit then goes outside and invites the whole family inside and they make Rabbit part of their family reunion and give him a shirt.
The relationship between the text and pictures is symbiotic because it shows the reader what is happening. The best part is the emotion. When Froggy is getting reamed out it shows how sad he gets, it also shows when froggy is making his concoctions it shows Rabbits anger. Thats why I think it's a symbiotic relationship.

Scarlette Bean is a little girl who when she was born had green fingers. Her parents would work outside in the garden since their house was so small. When she was five her father built her a vegetable garden. One night her fingers started glowing and when she woke up the vegetables in the garden had grown so big they had to use tools like bulldozers, forklifts and chainsaws to harvest the food. They made soup of all the vegetables for the town. Scarlette then dreamed of something and her fingers turned greene again. The next morning there was a mansion made of different vegetables for her and her parents.
The symbiotic relationship is shown very well through this book. There is so many details about the words that are on the page. The details really help the reader connect to the words on the page especially if they don't know what certain things are the pictures help them connect.

This book talks about this boy who talks about all the things he would like to do when he "gets bigger." He talks about things like what he will have, his job, where he'll go, what he will do and who he will see. At the end of the book he goes to bed because his parents said so since he's not big yet.
This book shows the symbiotic relationship because each picture has to do with exactly what he says he's going to do when he's big. This book is great for this because it especially has to do with things that children would like to do and they can relate by looking at the pictures.

As a child kids don't know much about this so its really healthy for kids to learn.
This book shows the relationship by the pictures showing what the words are saying. The pictures also have calm colors and there are no harsh sharp edges. The book really helps with explaining meditation.
