It has things on it from Elementary to College, and looking at it again reminds me of how much of what I was passionate about when I was younger hardly seems present anymore, like surfing/skateboarding, baseball, and the WWE.

Due to its being relatively beginner friendly on both those fronts, and that we knew the song well, I chose "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" to get him started.

The first time I ever taught English anything was from my horror literature class sophomore year at MSU. I had just decided that semester to switch from English to Education, and this experience made me question that because of how nervous I was. However, I learned later that I'm only nervous in front of my peers, not the students.

One of many embarrassing little song demos I made in high school and early college. Although I cringe at literally every song I wrote, I did enjoy the process, and it was probably the only creative thing I ever did. I freak out at the thought of ever sharing any of these, so it helps remind me of what I'm asking of students to share and be creative in class.

I had read a lot as a kid, but didn't really read anything from 13-16 until we started reading more challenging and engaging books. I hope that I will be able to share my appreciation with my students so that they get the same things out of it that I did.

Specifically that day we were learning physical setting, so I modeled the song "Subdivisions" to the class, and we had a fun discussion on that and the other songs they chose for themselves.

And although it would lead to the occasional pepe or honkler being drawn on the board, meme humor has been one of the best way for me to understand my students' senses of humor and personalities.

Although I'm into many nerdy things, I had no experience with Dungeons and Dragons until this internship year. First, I was asked to host the tabletop portion of the gaming club, who were doing a campaign of D&D. And in the second semester, I had a group of my students (as well as their friends) who started a campaign during our lunch. It's a fun new hobby that I will be able to take with me past this year, and I can use it to connect with a considerable number of students based on my experiences this year.
