I used a mix of purple, blue and black for most of the shadows on the pot and in the shell. For the flowers, I added touches of red for the inside shadows

I had to use a lot of layers of paint to create the shadows and different tones on the sand, water and boat. This was a very enjoyable project. It meant a lot to me because I love the ocean. I would change the way I did the rocks in the back. The plants should not be so green.

For this painting, I used a lot of green, yellow and orange. For the shadow on the orange, I used green, brown, and yellow to show that the orange was curving around. I had some trouble with the shadow on the lemon because the shadow looked too dark, but I think it turned out reasonably well.

I was able to effectively work background to foreground by getting the mountains done first and adding layers of darkness under the rocks before adding highlights on top. The rocks definitely went better than I thought they would. I would do the mountains differently, specifically the little cliffs on the front side.

I enjoyed doing this painting a lot. Since I have never painted an animal before I was not sure how I was going to get the distinct highlights on the fur and make the layering look good without looking too abrupt, but in the end I'm really happy with how this turned out. I had a little trouble making the muzzle look right, but I think it turned out quite nicely.

For my first time working with oil paint, I was satisfied with how this painting turned ot. I think the hardest part of this painting was the flowers. Since I knew I had more limited time, I was not able to get the correct shape of them, but I otherwise enjoyed this painting.
