An evolutionary force that affects population growth is Natural Selection. Natural Selelction focuses around "survival of the fittest". Charles Darwin made a theory that the species compete against each other for different resources and those species that adapt better in an environement have a better chance of survivng, reproducing and passing on those traits to their offsprings.

An evolutionary force that affects population growth is mutations. Mutations can be helpful, harmful or even neutral. If fitness is improved by mutation, the frequencies of alleles will increase from generation to generation. Mutations could generate an entirely new allele. If the mutation is beneficial, migration must occur for it to spread to other populations.
