She believed her country wasn't treating black people (specifically women) equally. Her and her husband wanted to overthrow the apartheid government. Her husband was arrested and she was left to take care of her kids by herself. She wanted to threaten white people in a way that would make a change. She ended up killing someone but covered it up. More sandals began to happen so the people began to say Mandela let them down and she was badly behaved.
