Social behaviors have been developed throughout millions of years to help survival. Not just humans do it, but also animals.

What do penguins do to protect themselves from danger?

Penguins walk slowly with a distinctive waddle and cannot fly when they are in danger, but they can slide on their bellies to flee their foes. When there near the ocean they tobanging which allows them to go into the water. Other ways penguins can be in danger is from climate change, distruction, predators, diseases, and over fishing. These penguins need to survive so do that they have to keep high body temperatures to remain active. They have thick skin and lots of fat (blubber) under their skin to keep warm in cold weather. They also huddle together with their friends to keep warm. Penguins tightly packed feathers overlap to provide waterproofing and warmth. Without their high body temperature they can die.

https://sciencing.com/penguins-protect-themselves-enemies-4569925.html

http://www.primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk/adaptations/penguins.htm

Penguins have many adaptations that they have acquired over many years and many of them have become useful as their environment changes as well. A few of these adaptations are behavioral and structural changes. Behavioral changes are when responses are made by an organism that help it survive or reproduce. One of the penguins behavioral adaptations are they breed during the winter time so that their offspring can reach independence when it reaches summertime, they plan it like that so its easier for them to have food available. There is also structural adaptations. Now structural adaptions are a feature of an organisms body that helps it to survive or reproduce. They have a short stiff tail and this tail is supposed to help them lean backwards and balance on their heels. When they do this it is supposed to reduce heat loss from their feet to the ground. There is another type of adaptation that they have and it is psychological however, I am not going to get into those today. :)

The color of the penguins feathers helps them avoid being detected by predators when they are underwater. So if a predator tries to look down at the water underneath them. They can not see the emperor penguin. Their dark feathers on their backs help them blend in with the ocean below because of the dark depths. Now if the predator is inside the water and is below the penguin. The white feathers on the penguin could be mistaken as the sky because it camouflages above the surface of the water. Speed also helps the penguins escape from danger because underwater, they can swim up to 9.3 miles per hour! Well penguins have babies they need to protect them from predators. For the first 9 weeks. The males hold the eggs on the top of their feet which covers the incubated eggs with a fold of thick, feathery skin, called a brood pouch. Newly penguins are also protected by their father's brood pouch until their mothers come back. Females protect the babies as the father does. The mothers feed the chicks chewed up fish and huddle them together for safety and warmth in Antarctica. To protect them against the cold emperor penguins huddle together in large groups and keep each other warm. When the penguin from inside the huddle is warm they move to the outside so others get the chance as well. Yet emperor penguins huddle together, they have four layers of feather which are smooth, waterproof feathers, cover fluffy, and insulating feathers. The thick layer called blubber gives the penguins extra protection the cold.

Social behavior is very beneficial for many species, it increases survival, enhances fitness of a group and progression of brain development. It consists of a set of interactions among individuals of the same species that leads to adaptation . Social behavior helps species adapt to their life as they learn and experiment ways to survive longer and later then reproduce. For example, animals feeding together like a herd of wildebeest, schools of fish, flocks of birds, etc. This shows that animals adapted to predators and found a way to make feeding easier. An example for humans is us building houses, making food, producing products that help our everyday life and lots more. This represents social behavior among humans because it shows that we made stuff so we were able to survive and adapt to the earth. Overall social behavior has so many benefits and it is the reason we are living at the moment.
