I was so wrong.

I am three months away from entering my freshman year of college and I don’t know what I want to do in my future, who I want to be, and what I want to accomplish.

My mom has always been a role model to me. She has accomplished so much in her lifetime including creating two different businesses--one for hormones and one for coolsculpting--delivering babies, growing and taking care of her own family, and saving so many lives of people who struggle with their pregnancies, weight, cancer, and other diseases. She has continuously made me feel proud to be her daughter because she seems so successful and so happy helping people. Talking with my mom was very eye-opening because I discovered many new things about her and her life that I didn’t know. She said that she doesn’t regret going into the medical field but it is much harder than people realize.

Although becoming a doctor is in my genes, I am hesitant because of all the schooling and work that comes along with it. The intense science classes that are required throughout college and after are one of the main things that make me unsure about trying to become a doctor. As college approaches and my future inches closer, I will continue to think back to this interview and what struggles and positives my mom expressed in it.
