PRO

•Thesis

Forest fires in Indonesia often cause serious damage to the environment, health, and economy. Many people think that drought and climate change are the main causes. However, in reality, forest fires are more often triggered by human negligence than by natural factors.

•Arguments

First, land clearing by burning is still commonly practiced because it is considered cheap and fast. Both plantation companies and small farmers use this method without thinking about the destructive impact.

Second, weak supervision and law enforcement make the problem worse. Many cases of land burning are not given strict punishment, which allows the practice to continue again and again.

Third, careless human actions also play a role. Cigarette butts thrown away carelessly or campfires left unattended can trigger massive fires, especially during long dry seasons.

•Reiteration

Therefore, it is clear that forest fires in Indonesia are mainly caused by human negligence. Natural factors may worsen the situation, but the root of the problem still lies in human actions. For this reason, public awareness, responsible land use, and strict law enforcement are necessary to prevent this disaster from happening again.

Nama kelompok :

1) Assyifa Aulia Putri (9/XI F)

2) Erma Shofia Syifa Qulba (11/XI F)

3) Maulida Risti Hastuti (20/XI F)

4) Nabila Jihan Az-Zahra (24/XI F)

The Drawbacks of the Internet of Things (IoT)

Kontra

•Thesis

The Internet of Things (IoT) promises a connected and automated future, transforming homes, industries, and cities. However, its adoption is hindered by significant drawbacks, including security vulnerabilities, high costs, interoperability issues, and social implications. These challenges highlight the need for careful consideration before fully embracing IoT technology.

• Argument 1:

Security and Privacy Risks IoT devices are often vulnerable to cyberattacks due to weak security features. The 2016 Mirai botnet attack, which exploited IoT devices like cameras to disrupt major websites, is a stark example. A 2023 Kaspersky report noted that 40% of IoT devices lack proper security updates, making them easy targets. Additionally, these devices collect sensitive user data, raising privacy concerns if mishandled or sold without consent. Such risks undermine trust in IoT systems.

•Argument 2:

High Costs and Complexity implementing IoT is expensive and complex, limiting its accessibility. A 2022 Gartner report revealed that IoT projects often exceed budgets by 20-30% due to costs for infrastructure and maintenance. For instance, smart city initiatives frequently face financial overruns. Integrating diverse devices also requires technical expertise, posing challenges for small businesses and developing regions with limited resources.

•Argument 3:

Interoperability and Social Concerns IoT suffers from a lack of universal standards, causing interoperability issues. Devices from different vendors, like Amazon and Apple, often don’t work together seamlessly (IDC, 2023), forcing users into restrictive ecosystems. Moreover, IoT-driven automation threatens jobs, with the World Economic Forum (2023) estimating 25% of logistics roles at risk. The technology’s reliance on stable internet also excludes 37% of the global population offline (ITU, 2024), widening the digital divide.

•Reiteration

In conclusion, while IoT offers innovative possibilities, its drawbacks—security risks, high costs, interoperability challenges, and social impacts—pose significant hurdles. Addressing these issues through stronger security, standardized protocols, and equitable access is crucial to ensure IoT’s benefits outweigh its downsides and foster responsible adoption.

Nama anggota kelompok 1:

Eksi Fitri Murwani (10/XI F)

Laras Inayah Maulida (18/ XI F)

Salsabila (29/XI F)

Tri Nova Riyanti (31/XI F)

(PRO) MENTAL HEALTH SHOULD BE PRIORITIZED OVER PHYSICAL HEALTH

1.Thesis

Mental health is fundamental to a person's quality of life. If mental health is compromised, physical health can also be affected. For example, excessive stress can lower immunity, trigger headaches, sleep disorders, and even chronic illness. Even people with healthy bodies can lose motivation, enthusiasm, and purpose in life if their mental health is unstable.

2.Arguments

Mental health plays a very fundamental role in determining a person’s quality of life because it is closely related to physical condition, mindset, and motivation. When mental health is compromised, it can bring various negative impacts on the body. For example, excessive stress can weaken the immune system, making a person more vulnerable to illness. In addition, stress may trigger headaches, disrupt sleep patterns, and in the long term, even lead to chronic diseases. Another piece of evidence that shows the importance of mental health is the fact that even someone who is physically healthy can lose motivation, enthusiasm, and life purpose if their mental condition is unstable. This situation proves that mental health is not merely a complement but rather the foundation for maintaining life balance, building resilience, and achieving overall well-being.

3.Reiteration

From the arguments above, it can be concluded that mental health is the primary foundation for determining a person's quality of life. A disturbed mental state can impact physical health, lowering immunity, triggering various illnesses, and diminishing motivation and enthusiasm for life. Therefore, maintaining mental health is as important as maintaining physical health, as the two are interconnected in achieving overall well-being.

NAMA KELOMPOK

1.AINUN KHASANAH (2/XIF)

2.ARDELYA WENING SAPUTRI (7/XIF)

3.MELISA EKA WULANDARI (21/XIF)

Forest fires in indonesia are caused more by human negligence than nature

Thesis:

I disagree with the statement that forest fires in Indonesia are mainly caused by human negligence, because natural factors also play a major role.

Arguments:

First, extreme weather conditions such as El Niño and prolonged droughts create very dry environments, making forests and peatlands highly flammable. According to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO, 2016), El Niño has significantly intensified drought and increased fire risks in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia.

Second, lightning strikes have been recorded as natural causes of wildfires in remote forested areas. These fires can occur even without human presence.

Third, Indonesia has vast peatland areas that are naturally vulnerable. When dry, peat soil can ignite and burn underground for weeks or months without any human activity involved (Page et al., Nature, 2002).

Finally, once small natural fires occur, hot temperatures, strong winds, and lack of rainfall allow them to spread rapidly into large-scale forest fires. This shows that the environment itself has a strong influence on fire outbreaks.

Reiteration (Conclusion):

In conclusion, it is not accurate to state that human negligence is the main cause of forest fires in Indonesia. Natural factors such as El Niño, lightning, and peatland vulnerability are also significant contributors. Therefore, forest fires should be seen as the result of both human and natural causes, not merely negligence.

📌 Daftar Sumber & Website

	1. Zarifah Nur J (35)

KONTRA

Mental Health should be prioritized over Physical Health

some people argue that mental and physical health are equally important and should be prioritized together. However, this perspective is idealistic and not always realistic. Physical health should take priority because mental well-being heavily depends on the body’s condition. Chronic illnesses, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, or insufficient sleep can directly cause stress, mood swings, and even depression. For instance, heart disease patients who neglect diet and regular exercise are more likely to develop severe anxiety and depression. This shows that mental health cannot stand alone without a healthy body as its foundation.

Additionally, many mental health problems are actually consequences of physical health issues. For example, hormonal imbalances or vitamin deficiencies can trigger persistent fatigue, irritability, and anxiety. Prioritizing mental health without addressing these physical problems does not solve the root cause. On the other hand, adopting healthy habits—like regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and adequate sleep—not only improves physical health but also significantly supports mental stability and resilience.

In conclusion, while mental health is undeniably important, physical health should be prioritized first. A strong and healthy body forms the foundation for a stable mind, making all efforts to improve mental well-being more effective. Ignoring physical health limits the potential benefits of mental health interventions, so taking care of the body is the essential first step toward overall well-being.

Direct impact on humans

Climate change causes extreme weather, such as heat waves, storms, flooding and rising sea levels of these have a negative impact like many fatalities, home damage, and serious health problems.

IoT has become an inseperatable thing in human's life. IoT offers convenient and efficiency. However this advancements also rice a critical consent. It makes people increationly dependent on technology.

Fristly IoT make human connection with relative wecker, heavy relevance on IoT can't distance people from direct interaction. For example A teenager that addicted to games make them avoid getting out and make them don't have any reality relationship (Go touch some grass boy).

Lastly IoT may weekend critical thinking and problem solving skills. For example apps like chat GPT or problem solving AI make human who uses them to dependent on them, so their ability to think become weaker and human became lazy to study because AI can solve the problem for them. (Go to the library and read more books!)

In concluation, IoT bring a lot of benefit to human, but it also has a risk that may reduce human abilities.

•Thesis

Many people believe that climate change is the greatest challenge facing humanity today. However, I strongly argue that overpopulation is a bigger threat because it is the root cause of climate change, resource shortages, and social instability.

•Arguments

-First, overpopulation accelerates climate change. The more people live on Earth, the higher the demand for energy, transportation, and industry. These activities increase carbon emissions and pollution, which makes climate change worse. Without controlling population growth, efforts to reduce global warming will not be effective.

-Second, overpopulation leads to resource depletion. Natural resources such as food, water, and land are limited. When the population grows too fast, the demand exceeds supply. This situation creates hunger, poverty, and conflicts over resources. Climate change may influence resource availability, but overpopulation is the main driver of scarcity.

-Third, overpopulation causes serious social problems. Overcrowded areas often suffer from unemployment, poor living conditions, and lack of health services. These issues create inequality and can lead to crime or social unrest. While climate change affects the environment, overpopulation directly threatens human society.

•Reiteration

In conclusion, overpopulation is a bigger threat than climate change because it worsens global warming, exhausts resources, and creates social instability. Therefore, reducing population growth must become a global priority in order to secure a sustainable future.

Nama kelompok :

Hakim Alifta S (14)

Muhamad Fahri K (22)

Muhammad Elang S (23)

Risal Firmansah (27)
