If we had stopped development of nuclear weapons, there is a very high chance that tensions in the world would not have escalated throughout the twentieth century, especially the cold war. However, nuclear power would not be as good as it is now. Scientists separated their work lives from their home lives. They rationalized that they never were intending to build a weapon of mass destruction.

What concerns me most about nuclear energy is that it will fade into nonexistence. I truly believe that we need to switch to nuclear as soon as possible in order to stop the emission of carbon from coal and natural gas. Nuclear is not a permanent solution, but it is a solution that we know how to do effectively. We can then continue working on making renewable energy much better.
