-It is mostly desert.
-Temperatures can reach 122 degrees
-There are scattered springs called oasis
-Arabia has been surrounded by many civilizations over time.  The location and climate has served to protect the peninsula.

Nomads- People who live in tents that never settle in one area.  Usually are herdsmen.
Bedouin- Tribes of people who typically raise camels, sheet, and goats.  Occasionally the would eat meet.
-The Bedouin are broke up into tribes with the leader being called a Sheikh.
-In the past, these tribes would battle each other for control of water and raided for animals.
-Contests were often held that would promote an ability to fight in battle, such as camel races.

-Caravan- A large group of traders that would move product for mutual protection.
-One of the most important trading towns is and was Mecca.
-Some caravans traveled all the way to China
-In the center of Mecca is the Kaaba a short building that is used as a house of worship.
