Somos o grupo da escola EPROMAT, do curso profissional de Multimédia do primeiro ano.

O vídeo inicia-se com várias televisões a surgirem uma a uma, cada uma transmitindo notícias sobre acontecimentos reais relacionados com o racismo. Esta justaposição intencional de sons e imagens provoca uma certa confusão sonora, com o objetivo de sensibilizar o público para a elevada frequência e gravidade dos casos de racismo que ocorrem diariamente.

Na segunda parte do vídeo, vemos quatro pessoas em círculo, com a nossa camerawoman posicionada ao centro. Estas quatro pessoas, todas negras, partilham episódios marcantes em que foram vítimas de racismo ao longo das suas vidas.

O segundo vídeo apresenta novamente uma roda, desta vez composta por três pessoas que relatam situações em que presenciaram atos de racismo cometidos contra terceiros.

Durante o nosso percurso pelas ruas do Porto, abordámos também um músico de improviso, ao qual pedimos que criasse um rap sobre o tema do racismo. Esta intervenção musical, além de abordar diretamente o problema, transmite a mensagem de que a arte – neste caso, a música – pode ser uma poderosa ferramenta de combate ao racismo.

Optámos por realizar este trabalho com pessoas do público em geral, em vez de encenarmos uma atuação, porque acreditamos que um tema tão sensível e profundo como o racismo deve ser abordado por quem o viveu na pele, por quem o testemunhou, e por quem ainda sofre com as suas consequências. Esta escolha permite não só sensibilizar de forma mais autêntica e impactante o público, como também evidencia uma triste realidade que, embora tenha raízes no passado, continua infelizmente presente nos dias de hoje.

O objetivo deste projeto é oferecer uma perspetiva abrangente e profunda sobre a forma como o racismo se manifesta no quotidiano urbano. Com este vídeo em 360°, pretende-se não só sensibilizar o público para a gravidade desta problemática, mas também inspirá-lo a agir, contribuindo para a construção de uma sociedade mais justa, inclusiva e respeitadora para todos.

The video begins with several televisions appearing one by one, each broadcasting news about real events related to racism. This intentional juxtaposition of sounds and images creates a certain auditory confusion, with the aim of raising awareness of the high frequency and seriousness of racism cases that occur on a daily basis.

In the second part of the video, we see four people in a circle, with our camerawoman positioned in the centre. These four individuals, all Black, share powerful stories of moments in their lives when they were victims of racism.

The second video again presents a circle, this time composed of three people who recount situations where they witnessed acts of racism committed against others.

During our journey through the streets of Porto, we also approached an improvisational musician and asked him to create a rap about the theme of racism. This musical intervention, in addition to addressing the issue directly, conveys the message that art – in this case, music – can be a powerful tool in combating racism.

We chose to carry out this project with members of the general public, rather than staging a performance, because we believe that a topic as sensitive and profound as racism should be spoken about by those who have lived it, witnessed it, and continue to suffer from its consequences. This choice not only allows for a more authentic and impactful awareness-raising effort, but also highlights a sad reality that, although rooted in the past, unfortunately still persists today.

The aim of this project is to offer a broad and in-depth perspective on how racism manifests in everyday urban life. With this 360° video, we hope not only to raise awareness about the seriousness of this issue, but also to inspire people to take action, contributing to the construction of a fairer, more inclusive, and respectful society for all.

Racism is an old wound, but together, we have the power to heal it. Every act of respect, every word of empathy, and every inclusive action helps build a fairer world. And that world begins within each of us.

The experience we shared here doesn’t end when we take off the VR headset. On the contrary, that’s when it starts to matter — when we bring what we felt in the virtual world into real life.

Seeing is just the beginning. Acting is the path. And transformation is a mission for us all.
