Johnny is a wilting flower. When he tries to grow the soil he sucks in is poisonous causing him to break apart and wilt all over again. The book says "If you can picture a little dark puppy that had been kicked too many times and is lost in a crowed of strangers, you'll have Johnny" (11). Then when he finally grows into a beautiful colorful flower he is stepped on causing him to die and get old and dried out.

In the book it says, "I had to. They were drowning you, Pony. They might have killed you"(57). He never would have otherwise killed Bob if they had not attacked them.

He became a hero by saving some children in burning church. He didn't plan to be the hero, he didn't really want to be the hero, but something had to be done, someone had to save the children.

I'm 100% sure he did that not because he needed to clear his name from killing Bob, but he did it because he is an amazing person willing to die for the lives of other children.

Some of Johnny's flaws include not being able to use his brain. This causes him to act out and do things that get him in trouble or in a not so good situation. Like in the book when he kills Bob he wasn't really thinking that he could kill Bob if he stabbed him. It says, "He was sitting next to me, one elbow on his knee, and staring straight ahead. He was a strange greenish-white, and his eyes were huger than I'd ever seen them. I killed him, he said slowly. I killed the boy" (56). He also goes into the burning building to save kids he's never met. He has trouble thinking, before he does something.

The strengths section is a little off, when they say that he is optimistic and energetic as well as spontaneous and rational. This doesn't describe Johnny very well, but the weakness section does. It says, "His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignored him"(12). This is why Johnny acts so quiet, and rarely talks to anyone. The test says, that one is risky behavior and private and reserved.

The theme in The Outsiders is that everyone makes mistakes, but that doesn't mean they are a terrible person. We know this because Johnny was wanted for killing a man but was later named a hero because he saved the lives of innocent children. It says,"I'll get them... I looked around, startled. I hadn't realized Johnny had been right behind me all the way"(91-92). This was the moment that changed Johnny's life, this is why he became a hero. The author also uses this theme because everybody make mistakes some big some small. No matter what you do there's always a way to build yourself back and be stronger then before.

The integral setting in this story is the church. This is the most important place because almost everything important happens there. Johnny saves children and becomes a hero not a murderer it's also where they go to hide after Johnny murders Bob. It says, "There's an old abandoned church on top of Jay Mountain" (61). Dally gave them this idea to hide on top off the mountain in a church. The author puts the church in there because they needed a place for Johnny and Ponyboy to go that she could keep her.
