         <description><![CDATA[<div>The two opposing viewpoints were the blacks and the whites. Most white Americans were against giving African Americans equal rights. The whites believed that the blacks were inferior and wanted no part in interacting with them. The blacks however, wanted to be seen as equals to the whites. During the fight to end segregation both blacks and whites stood up to fight for what they believe in.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Rosa Parks sat in front of a city bus in Montgomery, as a Supreme Court ruling and banning segregation on the cities public transit vehicles took effect. According to the national archives, Parks was arrested for violating segregation laws.&nbsp;<br><br>Martin Luther King Jr. listened at a meeting of the SCLC, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, a civil rights organization formed by King after the success of the Montgomery bus boycott.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Each year, from 1945 until 1957, Congress considered and failed to pass a civil rights bill. Congress finally passed limited Civil Rights Act in 1957 and 1960, but they offered only moderate gains. As a result of the act, the United states commission on Civil Rights was formed to investigate, report on and make recommendations to the president concerning civil rights issues. Sit ins, boycotts, freedom rides, and the founding of organizations such as the student nonviolent coordinating committee. </div>]]></description>

These laws are active today and were made possible by President Johnson striving to end these dark times in America. If it wasn't for the brave men and women fighting for equality things could still be bad in America.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Civil Right’s act first pushed to ban all segregation and discrimination in employment and public areas. This broke the barrier the South had built to keep blacks segregated. It was split into different “Titles” including some that banned discrimination in inns, hotels, and other various places and stopped employers from hiring/firing employees based on race, sex, or religion. This act was the lead push to stop discrimination in America.</div>]]></description>
