initially i feel a little uneasy as i can be pretty indecisive when it comes to picking topics. two years ago, i did a digital literacy course where i had to create a project/video of some sort and chose to create a information video about Led Zeppelin. i have also done a research project in high school which required similar extensive research on a topic as university.

Harms, E 1938, 'The Psychology of Clothes', American journal of sociology, vol. 44, pp. 239 - 250.

this journal goes into great depth around the very idea of clothing. it explores how people people psychologically pick clothes than can reflect their emotions and helps express said emotions. they also state how clothing is just adornment and modesty but is also highly affected by the environment they are in. i understood the meaning of this journal and believe i can use this concept to better improve my video by applying my own emotion to the clothes within the video.

Peluchette, V. J, Karl, K, Rust, K 2006, 'Dressing to Impress: Beliefs and Attitudes Regarding Workplace Attire', Journal of Business and Psychology, Vol. 21, No. 1, pp. 45-63.

i found this journal incredibly insightful as there were psychological factors that i was unaware of. For example a particular behaviour called 'self monitoring behaviour'. This behaviour carefully inspects its surroundings and makes changes to their own image in order to manipulate and influence the perspectives of others around them to only see the projected image the person puts out. This is a factor i can include into my video as visual representation of this behaviour within one of the scenes of the business man. by doing this i can possibly, subconsciously connect to those in inhabit this behaviour.

Minot State University, 'Dress to Impress', career services, accessed 3/04/2023, <https://www.minotstateu.edu/careers/pages/dress-to-impress.shtml>.

i found that this university perfectly explains how clothing matters in terms of the work force such as projecting a professional image for more traditional business based jobs and how jobs in art and/or fashion provide the person with more creativity and creative expression with their clothing. i found this useful as it has helped provide a foundation on my research as if backs up my claims of the importance of clothing.

This advertisement will promote my own fictional clothing store that provides for every job and type of job. it will also promote the message 'the clothes maketh the man'.

the advertisement starts with a scene of a footpath in the city, then a man in a 3 piece suit and trench coat walks into frame and the camera follows as classical music starts playing. it will switch between close ups of his feet and over the shoulder shots. then the scene switches to a man in tradie clothes, shirts shorts and steel caps, getting out of his car, the music starts to pick up as he starts moving around to the back of the car where he grabs a shovel and pick axe. the scene swaps back to the business man. he has now met up with a friend who shows he is impressed with the way he is dressed then both start to walk alongside each other. changing scene back to the tradie, he is seen putting down the shovel after digging and picking up the pickaxe, placing it on his shoulder before finally lifting for a powerful swing, holding the pickaxe above his head for a few seconds where the camera will follow and cut just after he swing the pickaxe down in time with the music.

the ending of the ad will have both men posing, then they start talking to the camera delivering a message to the audience whilst the scene keeps switching between the two men.

Process - The organisation I need to successfully film my video is to properly organise an allocated time and location to film to keep efficient when filming. I will also have to plan out the sequences of the film to make it as smooth as possible when filming each scene. This includes the clothing items and all other accessory items that will be used within the film leading to the next point, an organised list of all the items being brought with to the film location. The steps involved with creating the film are gathering all the items and putting them in the car, driving to the location and getting set up to film. Then I would have to change into the intended clothes for the start of the film, and begin to add items at the film goes on.

Facts - Unfortunately, information impossible for me to collect is a global representation of data and information in regards to the effects of clothing and its importance. For example, gathering a sufficient amount of data to represent an entire culture and/or country and the effects clothing makes on the environment people are placed in, their workplaces, their emotions and if applicable, the vast varieties of religions that also impact the clothes people wear thus making my research restricted to more western settings.

Feelings - People as a whole have an almost infinite amount of beliefs to a multitude of ideologies, workplace positions or jobs as a whole and a plethora of other instances but, in regards to clothing, it can sometimes better represent the emotions a person is feeling or in some cases, hide the emotions someone is feeling. The choices people make in regards to their clothing, can be significantly impacted by their current or most frequent emotion/s. I believe my targeted audience will consist of mixed emotions about my intended message as there is never a guarantee they will connect to the message and in present time, freedom to express ones self and the clothes they wear, has vastly changed when compared to to 90s or even further back. but, in the end, I believe those who connect to the message of the video, will gain a deeper understanding of the importance and the impact clothes can make, not only on themselves but the environment and the people around them.

Creativity -I found it difficult in some areas to truly express my creativity as there was much room for exploration for example the costume design for the business man. He is restricted to suits being his only form of choice of clothes and his expression of his image. i believe my creativeness will be better observed in regards to colour correction as i have picked multiple colour palettes to properly compliment the setting and the characters themselves for their own scenes.

Benefits - the most significant benefit, the audience can take from my ad, is the message that the clothes you wear, have an impact on the environment and people around you. i another major benefit would be the audience understanding my product, a clothing store for every single occupation, whether its suits or PPE gear, the store has it.

Cautions - the most noticeable and significant weakness of the video is that it only shows men and mens clothing. Regardless of the advertisement catering to everyone, the video can give off the impression its men's clothing. Something else i must keep in mind when filming is how i apply some of the information i found out from my research and showing that in some scenes with the two characters.
