My exposition is in the first chapter, when we are first introduced to Tao, the boy with a bad foot. Here, we find that Tao dreams of being a cave painter, but he cannot, for it is taboo. My quote is on page 15, where it says, " He knew he would be severly punished, even banished, if he were caught making images. Except for a chosen few it was a strong taboo and against the secret rites of the clan."

My conflict for Boy of the Painted Cave is when Volt says that Tao day dreams too much, and that it is a very big problem. My example is on page 21, where Volt says, " 'You are always late, always behind the others, dreaming, wasting time. You are a poor hunter when the people are hungry.'"

My rising action for the book is when Graybeard helps Tao paint. I think that this is the rising action because it is a very important thing that goes on in the book. Also, it is something that happens right before the climax. My example is on page 88, where it says, " 'You are learning. Draw as much as you can, but always remeber to rub out your images when you are done.'

My climax for this book is when Tao gets caught drawing in the Secret Cave. I feel that this is the climax because this is the most intense moment, for we do not know what will happen to Tao. This is also when Tao gets sentanceed to face Saxon. My example for this is on page 141, where it says, " He heard a vengful curse and turned to see Volt standing behind him, stunned disbelief burning in the big leader's eyes." Here, you can see that Volt is obviously mad.

My falling action is when Tao is facing Saxon, because that is his consequence for painting in the Secret Cave, even though Graybeard sent Tao there to paint. My quote for this is on page 143, where it says, " Let him face Saxon, the sacred bull."

My resolution for this book is when Tao finds out the Volt is his father, so he could pint because he is the son of a leader. So, he was happy to paint, and he would be a painter for the rest of his life. My quote for this is on page 155, where it says, "...and his heart pounded fiercely as he shouted the words, 'You are my father!'"
