A balanced diet is only balanced if you have the correct amount of these components:
Protein is needed for growth and repair of the bones as well as this the iron in the protein is needed for the the growth of red blood cells and brain development.
Carbohydrates are needed for energy, they also contain fibre and some may contain vitamins.
Dairy foods are needed for the growth and repair of cells, support of the immune system and brain development, the vitamins and minerals in dairy foods help with strong teeth and bones.
fats and sugars are needed but only in small amounts as these only keep up your energy levels.
and fruit and vegetables are needed to ensure you have healthy functioning of all boy systems.

For this I am looking at Mondays lunch time and last snack. At the dinner they are serving meat(chicken), with vegetables and carbohydrates (rice) aswell as this they have milk to drink which covers the dairy part of the meal plan, the only think they will need to make sure is that they give the child a specific amount each so they have enough of each component. For the snack the children have carrot sticks, as well as keeping them hydrated with juice or water, the juice will serve as the sugar/ fat the children will need to keep their energy up, so in just a meal and a snack they have perfectly covered all components of the eat well plate and have given the children a health choice of food.

Resub:
Mondays meal plan is rather bland, it needs to involve different flavoured foods, such as; instead of carrot sticks pepper sticks or strawberries as all the healthy foods on their are vegetables except for breakfast as well as this the healthy snack they provide it should be something with high energy such as a kiwi as this is high sugar and keep their energy up until the next meal.

Newborn babies only have milk for the first few months of life, they will normally have little but they will want milk often, the milk they are given provides all nutrients they need to grow and develop for their age.
At around 6 months you will start to move the babies onto pureed foods and they will slowly start to get into a meal plan with having a few bottles at some points, this is where you can start exposing their taste buds to the different tastes in food, they could have mashed Sunday dinners, blended fruit.
At around 9-12 months babies start to self feed as well as this they also start to eat solid foods as they will have most of their teeth and will be able to chew and digest solid foods, this is the main point where you should introduce them to a balanced diet and you should try to produce balanced foods for them.
From 15 months -3 years the children can completely eat solid foods may still rely on the odd warm milk but they can eat completely solid foods and they will still have a child's portion around 4 times a day with snacks in between.
4-8 years the children are becoming independent so will start to make their own food choices so as parents or practitioners we need to make sure they have an right amount of each component on the eat well plate. all through the years the children will need all of each component as it all adds to their development for example dairy and proteins are needed for strong bones and teeth (for others see P1).

Resub:
Vitamins are also extremely important as the children are growing up as shown in the children's play, learning and development written by penny tassoni on page 197.

Children's diet effects their health and development, a child cannot properly develop without a balanced diet.
if a child has a balanced diet they are extremely likely to grow in line with expected development, their height an weight will be proportionate, if babies are above their expected weight it can put a strain on their bones as well as this if children do have a balanced diet they should have strong teeth and bones and regular muscle development.
A balanced diet also consists of plenty of energy, energy children will use up quickly as they are constantly moving around whether its learning to walk/crawl or whether they are running and playing on a play ground, all energy will be used. A lack energy can slow down development as if they wont have enough energy to do the moving to grow.

Resub:
An unbalanced diet has both long term and short term conditions.
Over nutrition short term can eventually turn children obese, they will have high levels energy it can also cause tooth decay due to an exsessice amount of sugar. Long term children can become obese and overweight which can cause health problems such as heart disease and type two diabetes as well as this, it can cause children to have extremely low self-esteem.
Under-nutrition is where the children are not getting enough of the essential nutrients. Children will have less concentration, less energy and will find learning quite difficult.
