Interesting and like the layout. Wondering if you should start with how you can tell the difference between this Olive and commercially grown ones (if they are even different). I like the image but for more impact to a reader an image of the problem they cause or even their distribution map? Looks good, great start

TG: That's a really good point with the identification, i will make sure it is incorporated in the expanded version. Thanks!

Hi Tristyn. Yes I also think the layout is very striking. Re the previous comment, in looking at the example brochures for other weed species, they tend to have distribution maps, identification stuff further into the brochure. I think it important to focus on the actual problem initially, which you have done – if you can’t convince the reader that there is a problem, they are probably not going to worry too much about doing anything about the species. If identification/distribution is up front, then the danger is that the reader will look at that and go no further, and still be unaware of why the species is a problem. I know this is an early draft – but don’t forget to proof read – I spotted a few typos – and scientific species name not italicised in one spot.

Hi Tristyn. Good design of this brochure, it leads logically and the flow of information is well presented. This elements all work together and there are plenty of facts displayed in a succinct and informative way. I agree with M that the photo makes the species look quite benign, but maybe that's a good thing for readers to recognise that problem weeds can look attractive?

Hey Tristyn,
I like the layout you've gone with. Quick Facts boxes are a great way for a reader to find key information quickly without having to dig through the whole document.

I'm making the assumption that you've structured the remaining pages of the brochure to follow on from presenting the problem to giving some background and management options for the species, as I think you've done in the quick facts box. That works well and makes sense.

I will suggest that maybe the wording at some points doesn't quite read like its intended for the public. Maybe finding a more simple way to say, for example that the species "drives changes to ecosystems reducing flora and fauna richness and abundance" is the way to go?

Also, I personally feel like a brochure to the public only needs the scientific name included once (maybe in a title or subtitle?), so that then the reader can just get to know the species by its common name which they would (probably) be more interested in.

Goodluck man!
Tim

Hi Tristyn,
I like the layout style, to me the first page shouldn't be too full you want people to get to the second and third pages etc. Just would look good to have the main text completing the section (as you would be planning to).
I like the key points down the side, they are sequential and easily understood.
Well done, keep it going.

Greg
