Lots of people have the same first name as me. It's kind of a common name and that used to really bother me. I wanted a unique name like the characters in my books. I used to lament the fact that I'd never be a Branwen or a Rhea. It took a long time to feel comfortable being one of two or three Brianna's in a class and having to decide who would go by Bree, Brianna, or B. I used to blame my parents for not being creative when naming me. I never really thought that they might have intentionally given me a name that most people knew. But that's exactly what they did. Or, what my dad did to be more exact. My dad's name is Basil Giles Mckiddy. You read that right, BASIL GILES. He grew up constantly having to account for his name, saying things like "no, I'm not British. It's just a family name." It really affected him. I remember when he used to debate with my mom about whether he should change his first name to something more normal, like Mike or Ken. He always felt that he stuck out like a sore thumb. So when I was born, he made it his mission to give me a name that wouldn't be difficult for anyone. I may not have a unique first name, but the reasons behind it are one of a kind and totally steeped in my dad's life growing up. I know now that my name is a testament to my dad's love for me; he wanted me to have an easier time than he did.

My middle name, Rose, used to embarrass me to no end. It is very feminine and flowery. When people used to ask me my middle name, my first impulse was always to lie and choose something more gender neutral. I was not a very girly kid growing up, and I assumed people would laugh at me if they realized this scruffy kid who refused to wear anything other than black denim was named for a flower. In fact, I wasn't actually named for a flower. I was named for my grandma, Pamela Rose. Thinking of her makes the name feel more like a part of me, like something that's actually mine. My grandma was one of the strongest and most tenacious people I've ever known. She hid her siblings in a cellar from bombs. She crossed an ocean to start a new life at the age of 25. She was braver than I can imagine. So when I think of her, I feel less embarrassed of my name. It reminds me that roses are strong too. They have thorns. They protect themselves.

My name has never bothered me that much except for when people spell my name "Aaron" instead of "Erin". It is a somewhat uncommon name and is mostly common for guys and not girls. I feel that my name has always best fitted me and I could never really imagine my name being anything else.

My name is Mason. It a common Irish name. I didn't really know how common my name was until I got my first social media account. Mason Russell is extremely hard to get on any website. I also know a few Masons at this and other schools. I have a friend Mason that I met because we have the same name. We even have an inside joke about it. Although I think that it's awesome there is not much of a significance to my first name. My middle name, Dale, was given to me because it was my grandfather's middle name. It is important to me because it reminds me of my grandfather every time I see Dale. He was a sweet old man that I didn't get to see much not only because he lived a few states over he passed away when I was little. I do remember how he would take out his dentures and attempt singing the national anthem and other songs. Watching him trying to sing was hysterical. When my younger sister was first able to talk she'd call me "Maymay". I would also get called "Mas" as a nickname by my parents.

This is Catherine Christine Manassee. For some reason my other paragraph about my name would not let me add more so here it is. Since I have European roots, the French translation of my name means pure/ clear. Also relating to my roots, I have the traditional spelling of Catherine instead of some of the more modern spellings using K's. As for having my middle name as Christine, it is because it is a family name. My grandma, mom, and I all share the same middle name. The funniest part about having my middle name as Christine is when people try to guess my first name and guess it as Christine instead of Catherine. I guess both names have always fit me. Now for when it comes to my last name, that is when everything goes down hill. No one seems to ever say my last name right on the first try. Manassee is definitely not a name you see everyday. Growing up I've had to correct people a lot. Luckily growing up with a first name like Catherine, I didn't meet that many people with the same name as me when I was little. I only meet one and we became automatic best friends because we thought it was so cool that we had the same name. Now that I am in high school, I am meeting a lot more people with the same name as me. Yes it can be a bit confusing in class sometimes, but since I usually go by Cat it is pretty easy to work out. Other nicknames I go by include Catwoman and Kit Kat.

My name is Seaenna Rachel Torgerson Simpson. I honestly like my name because not a lot of people are named Seaenna, and the spelling is unique. I've had my fair share of name projects, and I've looked up the meaning and there isn't a SINGLE website with the same spelling as mine, it's always Siena or Sienna. So i don't know the exact meaning, but Sien(n)a is a red brown color you may will see if you open a 48 pack of crayons. It is also the color of the clay found in Siena, Italy from which the color was originally named. My parents decided to name me Seaenna because my mom had a very common name growing up so she wanted all of her children to have unique names. Of the three of us, I think my sisters Cassia and Reilynn got the the most unique names, but I still love my name. It is a little annoying when people mispronounce my name, because it is spelled how it sounds, "Sea-enna". People will often say Sierra, Ciena (Syena or will give up when they see the spelling. My middle name, Rachel, is from my grandmother because her middle name is Rae so my parents just added the "chel" on the end.

However, my mother got pregnant very quickly after my parents got married, so they could not go. My first middle name is Nicole because that is my French grandmother's first name. It is also my mother's best friend's middle name. My second middle name is Jolie because it means "pretty" in French and my father is straight from France. I like my name a lot. I think that it makes me unique. Some people call me Syd. My mother has cute nick names for me like Sydney Bear and Sydney Bean, but that's only okay for her to say

My middle name, however, is not so unique, but I find it beautiful. It is indeed a family name, for my cousin and aunt hold the same name, as well as my soon to be second cousin. It pairs great with my first name, Mia, because in Italian it means "My rose", and I find hat stunning. I used to not like my first name. No one else shared the same name as me, and I thought it was really weird to say. "Meeyuh" or "Mee-uh". I am learning to love it, and I realize that it's a name that suits my personality. The name is upbeat and original. Yes, I have met other girls with the same name, but it doesn't come around often. That just means they are special, too.

I keep locking myself out of it!
Anyways, the nicknames I go by mostly come from my theater background, such as "Mamma Mia", but a name that sticks with me is one that was given to me by one of the greatest friends I've ever had. We don't talk anymore, but the name had a lot of meaning. He called me "Missy". I know, it doesn't seem like much, but let me explain. He used to call me "Missing In Action", MIA, but that was too long, so he shortened it to "Missy". Let me tell you, he was quite proud of it. The more he called me by that name, it came to that point where he would never call me by my real name. Ever.
My name means a lot to me, and it makes me who I am. It could be one of those names you see on TV that you always remember.

My name is not inherited through my family, as far as i know, I am the first Abby in my family. The only reason my parents decided on Mae for my middle name was because they thought it sounded good with the name Abby. LaRue has a French origin roughly translating to "the path" or "the road." I don't really have any nicknames since Abby itself is already a shortened form of another name. Although, I have been called Abz a few times but it never really stuck. I also like the way I spell it since most Stephanie's spell it with an f instead of a ph. However, this doesn't really bother me. On the other hand, my middle is very embarrasing to me. It is Griarte, which is very unique since it is my mom's maiden last name and she came from the Philippines. I don't really like sharing my middle name to anyone because most people can't pronounce it and most would say "what does that mean", since it isn't a regular american name. But I do appreciate that I can have my mom's side of the family a part of me, but I don't like to explain to everyone what it is.

I have never actually met anyone with the same name as me, which if you ask me, is pretty cool. I like my name a lot for this reason, I enjoy having a unique name, because whenever my name is mentioned, it sort of eliminates the possibility that the people are talking about anyone else. I'm not exactly sure what my name means, but I'm pretty sure it has Hebrew roots. This is because from almost every website that I read about my name, Hebrew roots are mentioned. This is kind of ironic because I have very curly hair and many people have asked me if I was Jewish. I don't really have any nicknames that involve my name, the only nickname I really have is, Butterball or Butter. I got this nickname pretty much the second I was born. This is because my dad loves Butterball turkeys and when I was born, I was very big. Then, my dad compared me to the size of a Butterball turkey, so he called me Butterball or Butter for short, and it stuck.
