It is surprising that there are so little male cheerleaders.
However, in cheerleading for females, appearance seems to be greater value than skill. This is evident though their uniform. Instead of wearing clothes that is most comfortable for cheerleading, people wear costumes that can show their body a lot. For example, tight, short skirts would be very uncomfortable for cheerleading. However, most cheerleader uniforms seem to be short, tight skirts. We can know from this that they value appearance over skill.

   b. Cheerleading teams should pick cheerleaders based on skill and not appearance.
   c. It is important for media and interviews to stop talking about the appearance of cheerleaders. For examples, interviews should stop asking about hair, and media should stop using words like 'sexy' and 'pretty' to describe female cheerleaders. 

2. Solutions for Male issues
   a. There should be more all-male teams so that there are chances for male cheerleaders to perform and compete a lot.
   b. Try-out posters should not only have females on them.
   c. Media should promote male cheerleaders more.
   d. There should be stores selling male cheerleading outfits. This can encourage male cheerleaders.

Maybe making an all male cheerleading team can help. This can give boy students a chance to do cheerleading if they desire to. Some boy students may not sign-up since they are worried they would be the only boy in the whole team. This would also break students stereotypes that only girls can do cheerleading.  
b. Make more chances for performance and competition. This could help other students think cheerleading is a real sport, and not just a show.
c. Have cheerleading as a PHE program. This can give students a chance to try the sport.
