More cycling paths will encourage more people to cycle instead of driving an atmosphere-polluting monster, otherwise know as 'car'.

The inconvenient weather conditions in Glasgow shouldn't

discourage anyone! Yet the cycling system does need a little bit
of upgrading...

WHY BIKES?

My thinking process:

Saving energy + reducing pollution
Improving transport
Improves environmental health
Cycling does not require energy.
Moreover, helps to reduce the obesity problem in Glasgow. Many people are too embrassed to go to gym, yet the new bikes will have tinted windows!
Cheap-ish
Easily accessible
A way of producing renewable energy

yes, I'm a bulletpoint freak.

Made out of recycled materials: plastics ect.
Roof - one of the main new features. Possibly solar panels on the top?
Chain? Handlebars? Nuh-uh. Advanced technology.
Tinted glass with the option of 'untinting'.
Group versions available - more than one set of pedals inside.
Fans on the sides to collect wind energy and convert it into electric energy.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE TRADITIONAL DESIGN..?

Please don't get me wrong, under no circumstances am I suggesting we should completly abandon the old-fashioned bikes! I love them and they are great, but considering the weather we have in Glasgow.. They aren't always the best choice.

AN ADVANTAGE TO EVERYONE

A bike takes up way less space than a car.
Greater number of people taking bikes would mean less traffic congestion, especially when coming into the town centre and more parking spaces, which are always needed.

GLASGOW - A BETTER PLACE

Bikes have are smaller and less powerful, therefore
collisions with a bike are less dramatic than with a car.
This would bring down the road accident rates and make travelling safer.

RENTALS

Bike storage can be a problem to many living in tenement flats, like me and thats why I came up with idea of bike renatals. You can borrow a bike from a place close to your house and leave it close to your work and vice versa. They'd be free, to attract people

BECOMING AWARE!

While cycling, you are much more likely to
take notice of your surroundings, unlike
travelling by car or train, because you are
going at a slower speed. This means more
will start to notice how beautiful Glasgow
really is, with all it's greenary and victorian
architecture but also how much damage
human beings are causing to this stunning city.
Hopefully, it will encourage some to act, in order
to make our city a better, healthier and even more
beautiful place to live in.

- all bikes have chips, which allow the government to monitor where each bike is at every moment

-the attempts to remove the chips automatically set off an alarm

-they automatically lock up and stop working if taken out of the city

-to get them to work, you must use your special bike card - they are given out to every Glasgow citizen for free, who applies

-you can borrow the bike from a stand near your house and leave it at any other one.
