Violet gets really mad at her mom for keeping those for over (2-3) years, they get into a fight. Somehow Violet managed to get some of the letters from her older sister who was kicked out of the house, but as she reads the first note she learned her sister moved to new york to be a nurse in training. A different note she read was saying sorry for your friend's loss, she died over the Flu she remembers her friend bleeding out of one of her ears and her nose but by the time they made it back she was bleeding everywhere. Violet expanded in a nice way how she was 11 about to turn 12 and she was going to see her sister in new york and Mrs.Renwick asked if her sister is one of the new women. Violet thought in her head this lady is mean she said I can not be a doctor or have a carer. She played him to tell her where to go without getting caught because she didn't have her parents with her. Once she gets out of the station she discovers New York is a very big and busy city. She is tossed and turned into the crowds of people like a popcorn kernel. She falls because of the train passing by and a colored 10-year-old girl helps her up. She gets to know the girl a little and finds out that her name is Myrtle Davies and she is going to the Girls Training Institute. Myrtle says she knows where Henry St is and says she will take Violet there. Violet is heartbroken, but Myrtle is there to help. They make their way outside to figure out how to get to Washington. This means riding a train without paying. They rode a train on a dirty platform and they had to sleep outside. At the end of the chapter, they make it to Washington DC and they realize Hobie is a great guy and he is not what he seemed to be. At first, Violet and Myrtle think Hobie is a sketch, but in the end, he saves Myrtle's life. Anthony Amendment she told them chalet was at a different house in Washington. After they got to where Professor Mary Church Terrell told them to go a mean white girl tried to lock them out till Violet yelled, "I am Chorlet`s sister!!!!!" she reopened the door and Violet asked to come in. When they got someone to talk to she said Chorlet was in Tennessee trying to get votes so women can vote. Turns out he was making shure they were in on pease but he was in the girls suffeget grop, but anouther reasen was there was he had a crush on her sister how the know is every one was blushing. How I know is because in chapter one when Violet finds the letters one of them said a nice man at the settlement house pached her tire. Later they get on the train and the conducter said Myrtle has to sit with the colored peaple. This made it hard for Myrtle and Violet to communicate.  In the Jim Crow car ( the car for colored people ) Myrtle met an old woman named Mrs. Merganser who used to be a slave. She had two children who were sent away at the age of one and she had 12 children in total.Her ( first ) husband was also sent away. She gave Myrtle an apple and they had a conversation about how the vote will go. She explains that white men and women getting the right to vote doesn't mean colored men and women will get the right to vote. Myrtle is devastated. Soon they stop talking and continue the train ride. What will happen next?

When Violet goes to the train car Myrtles in Mr. Marten goes to get drinks. Violet is in there talking to Myrtle for a while but she feels uncomfortable so she goes back to her train car to eat her dinner. When she gets back there are two large men where Mr. Marten was sitting. They were asking Miss. Dexter if that set was occupied she said, yes then Violet walk out but she was stopped by one of the men who asked her where she was going. She said she was going to the bathroom but she was really going to find Mr. Marten. She was 4 cars down at a side door when she saw Mr. Marten and told him everything he knew about them. They were going up a hill so it was not fast so he jumped off the train. Then she saw the two men questioning her she played dumb so one of the guys jumped off the train and the other stade behind to confront people but everyone played dumb. After she stole some of the food she sat on the deck and ate listening to a suffs- conversation and she heard them say her sisters name and then she saw her sister on her way over there. She ran to talk to her sister. She thought about maybe being a spy and telling the Suff's about the Anti's plans. Then she went to go find Myrtle and Mr. Martin and found them looking like hobos in a train yard. Mr. Martin and Chloe then had a heated discussion at first, but then you could tell they were happy to see each other. Then Myrtle gets treated unfairly because the desk clerk tells her she cannot stay at the hotel because she is colored.

So Myrtle and Mr. Marten ended up eating in an alley, but Myrtle isn`t alowed at any hotels either so she has to stay at dead horse alley. They go to The Capitol and they learn that 2 legislators have ran off. This is important because they need to vote (they are on stuff's side).
