Options for growing a micro business

My first option is to open another location. I am an online business selling car signs to grow my business I could start selling my car signs in shops like seaside places and tourist places. If i start off selling 100 a month to one business that is 1200 a year what would make me £3000 a year now if I find 5 places to buy just 100 car signs a month that will make me £15000 a year plus the ones I am already selling online. Now if they start demanding for more car signs and I start selling 500 a month to 5 places I will make £75000 a year.

My next option is to design new car signs for a different target market so I have more people to sell to. My main target target at the moment is mums and dads. If I design a car sign for a young racer driver than that would open a whole new market for me to sell to. Then I could create a new car sign for older people as well what would give me another new market to start selling to.

My last option is to have a new product to sell. I could start selling car stickers as well if I start selling these I can do the same process I did for the car signs. I could put them on my website marketing them as a new product, then I can promote them to the business I sell my car signs to, after that I can design some new ones and re-market them again.

Methods of expansion used by other businesses

License your product. This can be an effective, low-cost growth medium, particularly if you have a service product or branded product. Licensing also minimizes your risk and is low cost in comparison to the price of starting your own company to produce and sell your brand or product. To find a licensing partner, start by researching companies that provide products or services similar to yours. But before you set up a meeting or contact any company, find a competent attorney who specializes in intellectual property rights, this is the best way to minimize the risk of losing control of your service or product.

Form an alliance. Aligning yourself with a similar type of business can be a powerful way to expand quickly. If the thought of shelling out commissions or any of your own money for the sake of an alliance makes you uncomfortable look at the big picture. If you want to keep all the money to yourself, you're really shooting yourself in the foot, you need to align with other businesses that already have lists of prospective customers. It's the fastest way to success.

Expand globally. You don't need to acquire another business to expand globally. You just need to prime your offering for an international market. You'll also need a foreign distributor who'll carry an inventory of your product and resell it in their domestic markets. You can locate foreign distributors by scouring your city or state for a foreign company with a U.S. representative. Trade groups, foreign chambers of commerce in the United States, and branches of American chambers of commerce in foreign countries are also good places to find distributors you can work with.
