A coma is a period of deep unconsciousness for a long period of time. A person in a coma cannot hear, smell, or see. There are two types of comas- a coma and a medically induced coma. If a person is in a regular coma, he/she experienced a terrible injury resulting in an unwanted coma. If she chooses to die, she will join her mom, dad, and Teddy in death. Mia does not like having to make this big decision on her own. She wishes that someone would give her an overdose of morphine and kill her or take her off the ventilator. "How am I supposed to decide this? How can I possibly stay without Mom and Dad? How can I leave without Teddy? I basically learned that all choices have consequences and sometimes I will have to sacrifice something. It is a part of life and growing up and I will have to be okay with the consequences of certain decisions and the sacrifices I will have to make.
