Qº4 Salutations! George is the story about a kid named "George". George is a boy but wants to be a girl, she knows that she is one on the inside. She keeps saying that she hates the word man or the boys bathroom and hangs out with a girl named Kelly, she also has a secret duffle bag of fashion magazines. She always wanted to try makeup or have a dress and have a woman's body to go with it but never had one. When she tried to be Charlotte during the Charlotte's Web play, her teacher said no because she is a boy.

Life is hard for a person like her and needs everyone to know what she really is (A GIRL), and that is what the book is about, showing your true colors. At the end of the book, her mother and brother accept her as a girl, Kelly and George go to the zoo (as girls) and that's the end of it. George now happy now as a girl, has completed her goal. The book is supposed to show that in our world there are people who want to be a different gender and we have to accept them for who they are: transgender.

                                END

Qº3 In this book, there is one man that influenced the whole story. The laughing man or should I say, FUTURE MARCUS! Marcus is the character in the book who believes in time travel and that before some moments in the book, the man who was sending the notes (FUTURE MARCUS) wrote a note talking about things that would happen before they happened:
"3pm Today: Collin's Knapsack
Christmas Day: Tesser Well
April 27th: Studio TV-15".
Miranda finds out that day she got the note at 3:00 pm she found in colin's knapsack, two bread rolls (because Miranda, Colin and Annemarie worked at a sandwich shop for two months and they found two bread rolls missing which was Colin who took them as a joke), during Christmas, one of her presents was a First Edition A Wrinkle In Time book with the author's signature with the words "Tesser Well", and Miranda's mom winning 10,000 dollars at the Money Pyramid game show at Studio TV-15 on April 27th and also that day was also, Richard's B-Day. Did I mention FUTURE MARCUS saved Sal from a car accident and DIED.

From just a simple conversation to a big deal, time travel does exist (in this book). I really enjoyed this book so much, it gave me such happiness and awe when I read it. Two coincidences happened when I read this book, my dad bought this book with The Outsiders and A Wrinkle in Time, the book A Wrinkle in Time is Miranda's favorite book and is the book she has been reading a lot, and that Sal gave Miranda a grape Tootsie Pop which I have in my room.

                                   END

Code Talker

Qº3 yáʼátʼééh! Code Talkers is a story about a grandfather called Ned Begay telling his grand children about how his life changed and how he became an important part of World War 2 or WWII or WW2 or World War II or oh whatever. Kii Yazhi was just an ordinary 6 year old Navajo until his parents decide for him to go to boarding school. On the way to boarding school, Kii Yazhi and his uncle have some bonding time during the journey until he arrives to the boarding school where his live starts to change piece by piece. He gets gis name changed to Ned Begay, gets his hair cut short, and is forced to only speak english or he will have to suffer the consequences of experiencing the brown soap mouth wash which scars Ned for life. Years pass, and he is now in high school.

Ned develops how to speak english and starts reading about the Japanese. He gives interest into this civilization but feels bad about how poor they are and how many people live in such a small island, so he starts a food drive for them. Later... WW2 starts and the Japanese start helping the Nazis and Pearl harbor is DESTROYED. He finds out that the military is looking for Navajo soldiers and signs up the year after. Even though he is still sixteen he lies and says that he is seventeen so he could go into the army (and his birthday is in a couple months anyway).

Along boot camp, Ned makes close friends that are called Smitty and Georgia Boy. After boot camp, he and many other Navajos are brought to a private facility and finds out that this facility is where he learns how to be a Code Talker. He is told by his instructors that he is forbidden to tell anyone about being a code talker or else the possibilities could be catastrophic. He goes through many things: D-day, Guam, Pavavu, Guadalcanal, Bougainville, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, and finally Okinawa. During Iwo Jima, they were ambushed by the Japanese, many died, and many injured including Georgia Boy who had been shot in the neck, but in the end all was not lost when Iwo Jima had the american flag waving in the dusty wind of gunpowder, Iwo Jima had been conquered.

It was shocking when Ned, Georgia Boy, and company found out about the food rations that Ned gave to Japan during high school were given to the military from the poor. Okinawa was the next stop before the end of the war for Ned. Happily Georgia Boy survived! and he was ready for the last battle. It took 83 days to conquer this epic battle. 12,000 Americans were dead or missing, 36 ships had sunk from Kamikaze planes, 80,000 Okinawa people died, and the Japanese had lost 3,600 planes and 110,000 people.

Sadly The death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt saddened everyone including Ned, FDR died from the cursed disease Polio. The emperor sent a message to America but america ignored it and dropped two A-bombs in two different places. The effect was catastrophic killing many, everyone wished that those bombs were to never be used again. The war is done, Ned goes to college, he becomes a teacher. His life has changed from being a normal Navajo child, to being a Code talker who's seen death, explosions and suicide of Japanese civilians.

                                   END

R.L Stine. Bayard Poche

                                                                                 Rio Snyder
